Joshua 24:15 ESV
And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
Consider briefly a few important lesson from this well known verse.

1. The decision to serve the Lord is an individual decision.

It is not that the choice will be made by your family or the church you attend
Joshua said, “Choose for YOURSELVES whom you will serve.”  (v.15)
On the day of Pentecost, Peter said, “save YOURSELVES from this crooked generation” (Acts 2:40).
No one can decide for you whether or not you are going to serve the Lord.  It is a decision that you must make.

2. It is an inescapable and immediate decision.

Joshua said, “choose for yourselves THIS DAY whom you will serve”.
The decision about serving the Lord is not a decision that can be postponed.
If you decide not to serve him then you have made a decision against the Lord.  Jesus said, “”Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters” (Luke 11:23).
You must make a decision about the Lord.
You cannot remain neutral.

3. It is a decision that shouldn’t be influenced by what others are doing or say (v.15)

Joshua 24:15 (ESV) But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
Joshua didn’t let what others were saying and doing keep him
But, i have made the choice that i’m going to serve the Lord

Conclusion:

What decision have you made concerning the Lord?
Have you decided to serve him?
Remember, you must serve him on his terms and according to his way.
