Five Non-Negotiable Beliefs That Drive My Calling

1. I believe that racial and relational division in the church needs to be aggressively and constantly dealt with

a. I do not say within the church only because our influnece should impact and influence broader culture as well – socially and politically

2. I believe that the local church and the academy (schools) are essential avenues of influence on life as well as the market place

3. I believe that Christians want this, but need to be shown and equipped to:

a. Love it: THEIR AFFECTIONS - It is what they feel What they feel

b. Embody it: THEIR ATTITUDE - It is who they are

c. Live it Out: THEIR ACTIONS - it is reflected in their living and engaging, etc

4. I believe that racial and relational unity should be guarded and guided ONLY by the gospel.

5. I believe that a passionate pursuit of the glory of Christ will, by NECESSITY,

a. Create a global mindedness and mission

b. Impact the community around the church and influence social and political issues in society

WHAT DOES ALL OF THIS MEAN

LUKE RECORDS THIS ABOUT THE MISSION OF PAUL

Acts 16:1–4 ESV

Paul came also to Derbe and to Lystra. A disciple was there, named Timothy, the son of a Jewish woman who was a believer, but his father was a Greek. He was well spoken of by the brothers at Lystra and Iconium. Paul wanted Timothy to accompany him, and he took him and circumcised him because of the Jews who were in those places, for they all knew that his father was a Greek. As they went on their way through the cities, they delivered to them for observance the decisions that had been reached by the apostles and elders who were in Jerusalem.

Acts 16:5–10 (ESV)

So the churches were strengthened in the faith, and they increased in numbers daily.

And they went through the region of Phrygia and Galatia, having been forbidden by the Holy Spirit to speak the word in Asia. And when they had come up to Mysia, they attempted to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus did not allow them. So, passing by Mysia, they went down to Troas. And a vision appeared to Paul in the night: a man of Macedonia was standing there, urging him and saying, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.” And when Paul had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go on into Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them.

HERE IS WHAT THIS MEANS: THE CALLING OF THE PASTOR IS THE CALING OF THE CHURCH

WE MUST REFORM AND REDEEM “WOKENESS” BECAUSE GOD IS A “WOKE’ GOD
