And so the Day of Pentecost is of vital importance in Christian preaching. It is one of the great acts of God. The day of Pentecost is equally as important as the incarnation, the death, the resurrection and the ascension. These are the marvellous wonderful works of God, and this day is one of the most marvellous of them all.

You can say that the Day of Pentecost was the day of the public inauguration of the Church as the body of Christ. There was something new there which had never been before. There is a sense in which you can speak of the Church in the Old Testament, yes, but it is not the same as the Church was subsequent to the Day of Pentecost.
