All saints day,
Wyoming - Renvdevou
This morning, I would like to talk to you about a diffirent rendouv. A far more magnificent one. The Rendevou of the Saints into the New Heaven and New Earth.
Revelation 21:1–4 ESV
Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”
From this text, we can -

Observe in Revelation 21:1-4, three characeristics of the coming rendevou of the Saints.

The Ultimate communion, or gathering, of the Saints.
And these three Characterists -

Ought to give us comfort and hope when life becomes difficult.

This Rendevou will be charaterized by

(1) The New Heaven, New Earth, and New Jerusalem. (1-2, and 5, 14-27)

(a) Newly Made

(b) Without wear, tear, and ultimately sin.

(c) Glorious!

This Rendevou will be charaterized by

(2) A Place of Mutual Dwelling with God. (3)

(a) John directs our attention (loud voice, “behold”).

(b) God lives among his people.

This Rendevou will be charaterized by

(3) No More Suffering (v. 4)

(a) New teaches us no more suffering. (v. 1-2, 5, 14-27)

(b) God’s presence casts away any possibility of a tear, death, mourning, crying, or pain.

(c) Implicitly - No more war. (Isaiah 2:2, Joel 3:10)

We ought to find comfort and hope, that through Christ, we will one day no longer live in a world of suffering.
The greatest question from this text, are we in the book of life?
Are you 100% sure today, that you will be in the book of Life? And how do you know for sure?
I believe that the Bible teaches us we can be 100% sure we are in the book of life.
The greatest message of this text, those in the book of life, will one day live in a world, where all of our greatest fears, struggles, and pain are cast out and never to return. And this new world will forever remain so, because it is the very presence of God, that ensures they will never return.
And for those of us who are 100% sure they are in the book of life, may we be comforted and find hope in this promise - that one day we will live in a
New World,
Without Suffering,
and Dwelling with God.
