Finding our First Love Into

Revelation 2:1–7 ESV

1 “To the angel of the church in Ephesus write: ‘The words of him who holds the seven stars in his right hand, who walks among the seven golden lampstands. 2 “ ‘I know your works, your toil and your patient endurance, and how you cannot bear with those who are evil, but have tested those who call themselves apostles and are not, and found them to be false. 3 I know you are enduring patiently and bearing up for my name’s sake, and you have not grown weary. 4 But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first. 5 Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first. If not, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent. 6 Yet this you have: you hate the works of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate. 7 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who conquers I will grant to eat of the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.’

This church

did the right things

said the tight things

The church

toiled

endured

Tested thouse that would speak in the church

They made sure to stay to what is true....

And they are keeping it going, not growing tired.

But

The church forgot the first love.... what is the first love?

The Tony Evans Bible Commentary A. Letter to the Church in Ephesus (2:1–7)

Yet there was not passionate pursuit of an intimate relationship with Christ in the church. They were merely following a program. Duty had replaced devotion.

Duty and oblacations can not replace passion and genuineness

People can tell the differences

it is seen in your

tone of voice

you actions

What you are willing to work with.

IF you really dont have passion for it everyone will see it.

How do you get your passion back.... go back to the first love. to truly love Jesus.

He give us a word about that.

John 14:15 ESV

15 “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.

If we are to go back to our first love… we need to keep his commandments

to keep his commandments.... we need to know his commandments

to know his commandsments we must read and medatate on the word he has given us.

Romans 10:17 (ESV)

17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

Our Faith come from hearing and reading the word of Christ found in all of the Bible.

But there is a bigger point that Paul is making with this if we look at this passage in contex

Romans 10:5–17 ESV

5 For Moses writes about the righteousness that is based on the law, that the person who does the commandments shall live by them. 6 But the righteousness based on faith says, “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’ ” (that is, to bring Christ down) 7 “or ‘Who will descend into the abyss?’ ” (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). 8 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith that we proclaim); 9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. 11 For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him. 13 For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” 14 How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? 15 And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!” 16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed what he has heard from us?” 17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

we must be in the word of God and have our faith to grow

but we are also to help teach new believers the word

we must show the importance of reading the word

We must use the word in our evangalizem

WE must fall in love with the word...

Most christians do not love the word.... they say they do but they dont read it they done enjoy it

we must fall in love with the word . to fall in love with God again

We must fall in love with God again to fall in love with the lost

We must fall in love with the lost so that we can reach them

We must reach out to the lost so they can find salvation

WE can not skip these steps those we try … it starts with us.

This is why over the next weeks we will be teaching a series on the bible breakdown we are going to look at the differnt sections of the Bible
