How to tell if Curses are Operating Against us.
When we get into curses and such I often get asked how to tell if there are curses or open sin points that Satan is using against us.
First thing we need to do is ask.
23 In that day you will ask nothing of me. Truly, truly, I say to you, whatever you ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you.
It all starts with relationship. If we ask God is faithful to show us. But in my research Robert Henderson mentions 12 traits that typically show if we are suffering as a result of sin in our life.
1. A Curse creates a negative mindset and mentality.
66 Your life shall hang in doubt before you. Night and day you shall be in dread and have no assurance of your life.
Israel was in a place of active sin in their lives. They were not a disciplined people so they became an unprotected dispersed people. Often when God removes his protection from you the mind is the first thing to go. You get into a negative mindset because of negative behaviors.
Curses cause you to live without vision.
If you are cursed you expect bad things to happen. You expect things to go wrong, but when you live according to the Word of God you become blessed and expect blessings to happen in your life.
This mindset usually starts in one person, but can extend to everyone who is under that person’s authority. Families get taken over, communities get over taken, churches are vision-less because a curse landed on the leadership or the Pastor.
2. You Feel Trapped
19 Cursed shall you be when you come in, and cursed shall you be when you go out.
It can seem like no matter where you go or what you do nothing ever seems to go right. You get a rise, but more things go wrong that consume the extra blessing to your finances. You can’t seem to focus on your prayers and bible reading. Your family is always arguing.
My family dealt with this when we bought a house that was used in ritual sacrifices. Nothing would go right. Everything we tried to do the house would fall apart. It started affecting our personal lives and such. It wasn’t until a baptist friend of mine, I say Baptist bc he doesn’t really believe in these things, saw a black shadow standing in the dinning room area. He called me, we went through an anointed the house, found the ritual alter of sacrifice, pulled the dead animals out of the walls, and guarded our hearts. It wasn’t until we dealt with the demonic that we could continue with the house.
3. Lack of vision or purpose
29 and you shall grope at noonday, as the blind grope in darkness, and you shall not prosper in your ways. And you shall be only oppressed and robbed continually, and there shall be no one to help you.
If you dont have direction or purpose, can’t get direction or purpose it may be being blocked by a sin curse in your life.
The word blind here is from the Hebrew which means to have a film over your eyes. Once the curse is dissolved you will be able to see and get new direction
4. Destruction of Marriages/Households
30 You shall betroth a wife, but another man shall ravish her. You shall build a house, but you shall not dwell in it. You shall plant a vineyard, but you shall not enjoy its fruit.
I can often tell when we are under attack because my wife and I or the kids will get into stupid arguments that explode for no reason whatsoever.
Which brings us to the next one
5. Children are gone after
41 You shall father sons and daughters, but they shall not be yours, for they shall go into captivity.
Again ties into arguments, things going wrong for your kids. moves Children in bloodline curses and such. Children taken into worldly thoughts. Having unusual issues with your children.
6. Lack of finances
38 You shall carry much seed into the field and shall gather in little, for the locust shall consume it.
Your working, but there seems to be little fruit from it. You can’t find work. Gt fired from work. Making the same amount of money, but things keep falling apart and consuming your finances.
7. Sickness that isn’t healed
27 The Lord will strike you with the boils of Egypt, and with tumors and scabs and itch, of which you cannot be healed.
Dr.’s can’t figure it out. Prayer isn’t bringing healing. There may be a curse. Not all sickness/mental health issues are a direct result of curses. Some happen just because we are in a sinful world, but I often cover every illness with prayer and seek my life to see if I have any open doors. To me it’s always an avenue worth checking.
Something worth adddressing is this idea that God lets things happen.
17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.
Meaning—God doesn’t give Evil, but
23 and to the assembly of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven, and to God, the judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous made perfect,
God is the judge of all and like Job Satan must come before God. If Satan has a reason (a sin) he can exploit God has to allow him because through unrepentant sin we give Satan the right to attack
8. Lack of anointing (Spiritual power)
40 You shall have olive trees throughout all your territory, but you shall not anoint yourself with the oil, for your olives shall drop off.
