Genesis 12:6–7 “Abram passed through the land as far as the site of Shechem, to the oak of Moreh. Now the Canaanite was then in the land. The Lord appeared to Abram and said, “To your descendants I will give this land.” So he built an altar there to the Lord who had appeared to him.”
God takes you, preserves you, keeps you because He’s moving you in the direction where you belong.
God is faithful to bring us to our ultimate inheritance - Jesus, and to empower us to take hold of Christ for the rest of our lives.
Judah is placed in a position surrounded by dangerous neighbors, and so is the Christian.
Kiriath-Anak - land of the giants; tribal group who were enormous in size
Caleb - because of his faith and his faithfulness, is going to occupy a specific place
Caleb in chapter 14 - give me the place that makes everyone afraid (Joshua 4:12)
Caleb trusted in the faithfulness of God -
Caleb claims the mountain and he always asks for a higher ground and he will not rest until all the territory that belongs to him becomes part of his life.
Christians - we become content with becoming Christians; there could be so much more, there’s a higher ground;
God has a plan for this people in this place as the future is unfolding.
The promises given to you in the Bible, in Jesus, are promises so you can walk into the future you’ve dreamed about.
It has everything to do with us longing for an inheritance.
God wants you to experience your inheritance to truly possess what belongs to you in Christ.
