Help Me

Lebron James has been to 10 NBA championship series. He’s walked away winning four times. During those seasons in which he lost one of the narratives that was used on TV by many sports analyst was the idea that Lebron needed more help. One thing about sports is it takes a team, no matter how good one coach is every Tim Duncan needs a Tony Parker, every Kobe needs a Shaq, every Troy Aikman needs a Michael Irvin, every Christian needs the Holy Spirit. No matter how strong, we all need help! This is why fellowship, worship and relationships are so important.
How many of us like asking for help? I know I do not like asking for help. Many of us have been taught to tighten our belt and figure it our ourselves. Asking for help is very difficult but if we are truly honest with ourselves then we would understand that we all need help at some point in time. Even when we look at the creation of man and woman, Eve was created to be a companion or a helper to Adam. The idea of humanity was created with help in mind. We all need help! Jesus understood that no matter how smart, no matter how talented, no matter how great of a Christian you believe you are everyone needs help.

Help Begins with Obedience

The answer to the question of manifestation is understanding the nature of what love looks like to Jesus.
If we truly love Him we will keep His word. Understand that Jesus and God are a package deal.
John 14:23–24 “Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father’s who sent Me.”
Understand that the idea of help begins with the nature of obedience. For instance our ability to show Jesus that we trust Him, that we are willing to walk by faith begins with the fact that we are willing to do whatever it takes to show Him that we are willing to walk by faith. Obedience is challenging sometimes, sometimes obedience to God, sometimes walking by faith seems like we are out of our mind but if we understand the purpose of God, obedience does not seem so far fetched that God won’t provide in even our darkest hour! Obedience makes crossing the red sea and the Jordan like crossing the street to grab lunch.

Heaven Coming to Us

The triune being of God is a magnificent blessing for us. Understand that through the power of God we not only have Him the Father, but we have the Son, and the Holy Spirit. In effort to have true fellowship with the Holy Spirit it comes from us loving, seeking, and obeying God. The Holy Spirit is heaven coming to us! The spirit that God provides works on our behalf even when we do not know it.
The power of the Holy Spirit teaches us all things, brings things into remembrance when we forget! It interesting that Jesus is explaining the nature of the Holy Spirit yet the Holy Spirit had been working the entire time.
John 12:16 “His disciples did not understand these things at first; but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written about Him and that they had done these things to Him.”
The Holy Spirit was there when Jesus was in the wilderness just like the Holy Spirit is here today to help you as you matriculate through life. In the book of John we see that Jesus was guided by the Spirit, the Spirit will stand before us and protect us after the resurrection.
According to 1 John 2:20 “But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things.”
Our anointing comes from the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is an eternal part of the Godhead. The Holy Spirit is a divine being. It’s not just influence. The Holy Spirit speaks, instructs, bears witness, searches and knows, quickens and gives spiritual life, intercedes, and appoints! We must rely on the Holy Spirit. As much as the Holy Spirit guides there is a Deity of the Holy Spirit. The Holy spirit is powerful, eternal, according to Psalm 139:7 “Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence?” the Holy Spirit is omnipresent! The Holy Spirit is just and righteous.
The Holy Spirit is a comforter! This is the lesson that Jesus was trying to teach His disciples.

Peace is Help

Understand that there is no greater help than Jesus and often times peace is the greatest help that Jesus can provide for us. Peace gives us an opportunity to think, peace gives us an opportunity to be effective in life.
Peace is deeper than quiet time after the end of a long day. Peace is not only tranquility or freedom from worry, Peace is harmony with God which only happens through fellowship and obedience.
Peace is left with us, peace was given to us. It was given in a sacrificial way not in a sacrificial way.
Peace is a protector! See the worlds peace is based on material things, and vacations but the peace of God impacts our heart!
The reason why Jesus could say Let not your heart be troubled, neither let is be afraid is because the peace of God is a protector and sustainer of life. It was the peace of God that helped Jesus in the wilderness, it was the peace of God that helped the Hebrew boys in the furnace, it was the peace of God that helped Daniel in the Lions Den, it was the peace of God that helped us when we felt like we had no way out! I rejoice because God did not give me this peace because I deserve it but because His mercy blesses me even when I do not deserve it!
J.S. Baxter once stated
What God chooses, He cleanses.
What God cleanses, He molds.
What God molds, He fills.
What God fills, He uses.

“To be filled with the Holy Spirit is to be filled with one who is already there, in our hearts. Take up a sponge and while it is in your hand squeeze it. In that condition, plunge it in water and submerge it, keeping it in there. It is now in the water and the water is in it. As you hold it in the water, you open your hand, and as you do so the water fills all the pores which you release in this way. It is now filled with the water. When we receive Christ we are born anew and put into that sphere where the Holy Spirit is operating and the Holy Spirit comes to reside in us!!

In order to use what’s in us we have to be willing to let life squeeze us a little bit!
True peace comes from going through a few things! If you are not willing to go through anything you don’t really care about peace!
