We must first understand it’s purpose.
Calvin’s three-fold use
A mirror
of our sin
of God’s goodness
Restraint of Evil
revelation of what pleases God
a call to he boly as he is holy
abolish vs. fulfill
abolish the idea of tearing down and getting rid of
fulfillment is the idea of completion
Some of you are at the age of driving. you have put in a capital request with your parens for a car… the request goes into the mental HR either way, but the result is very different.

He interprets the law as it was meant as opposed to how the Pharisees have done so
He focuses on what the law reveals about what pleases God
Don’t murder-> Don’t be angry or insult your brother
Do not commit adultery- > don’t lust
give notice of divorce-> don’t do it
Do not break your oath with God -> dont make an oath with God
eye for an eye-> don’t resist an evil doer
love your neighbor-> love your enemy
