Description

Cheerful acts of compassion characterize those with the gift of Mercy. Persons with this gift aid the body by empathizing with hurting members. They keep the body healthy and unified by keeping others aware of the needs within the church.

if exhorting, in exhortation; giving, with generosity; leading, with diligence; showing mercy, with cheerfulness.

Definition

Mercy - Compassion for the miserable.
By the atoning sacrifice of Christ, a way is open for the exercise of mercy towards others; in harmony with the demands of truth and righteousness.
In Christ, mercy and truth meet together.
Mercy is a Christian Grace.
Similar words: compassion, courtesy, pity, unselfishness
Mercy denotes care, concern and empathetic feelings for another person.
Our example supreme is Christ, as He perfectly demonstrates and characterizes God’s own mercy and love for His people.

Examples of mercy:

God towards His people.

Isaiah 14:1 CSB
For the Lord will have compassion on Jacob and will choose Israel again. He will settle them on their own land. The resident alien will join them and be united with the house of Jacob.
Exodus 33:9 CSB
When Moses entered the tent, the pillar of cloud would come down and remain at the entrance to the tent, and the Lord would speak with Moses.

People reflecting God’s example:

may the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you;

Even as an example of how to be toward those God commands be destroyed.

Deuteronomy 7:2 CSB
and when the Lord your God delivers them over to you and you defeat them, you must completely destroy them. Make no treaty with them and show them no mercy.
