Have you been lost?

Who has ever been lost before? who can give me an example. Either in lost in the scene of not knowing were you are. or lost when someone is explaining something to you.
A better question may be, you you always know where you are going? are you always sure what direction you are heading?
how would you know? what helps you understand the area you are in?
When I was younger, I got lost and spent the better part of a day wandering around a town I did not know much about. what brought me back to safety was the Dog i was following. you see I was in my Grandfathers home town and was following his dog. I was worried that the dog was going to wander off and get lost but instead what happened was I got lost and the Dog knew exactly where it was going and she became the reason I was able to be found and brought back to safety.

God is our Guide

Whenever we are lost there will be something that can help us find safety or home. in my case I was able to follow the dog back to a familier place. When a ship comes to to dock it may use a light house to know where to stay away from to avoid the rocks. other people will use a map, compass, or the stars to help let them know where they are.
When we are looking through life we should understand that God is our guide in life. When we are in a dark place, or struggling with the situations we may face, God is a constant beacon in our life.
Let me tell you a story from a book in the bible. It is the first book of the New testament. it is called Matthew it is one of the 4 different books talking about Jesus’ life. this story can be found in
Matthew 14:22–33 NLT
Immediately after this, Jesus insisted that his disciples get back into the boat and cross to the other side of the lake, while he sent the people home. After sending them home, he went up into the hills by himself to pray. Night fell while he was there alone. Meanwhile, the disciples were in trouble far away from land, for a strong wind had risen, and they were fighting heavy waves. About three o’clock in the morning Jesus came toward them, walking on the water. When the disciples saw him walking on the water, they were terrified. In their fear, they cried out, “It’s a ghost!” But Jesus spoke to them at once. “Don’t be afraid,” he said. “Take courage. I am here!” Then Peter called to him, “Lord, if it’s really you, tell me to come to you, walking on the water.” “Yes, come,” Jesus said. So Peter went over the side of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus. But when he saw the strong wind and the waves, he was terrified and began to sink. “Save me, Lord!” he shouted. Jesus immediately reached out and grabbed him. “You have so little faith,” Jesus said. “Why did you doubt me?” When they climbed back into the boat, the wind stopped. Then the disciples worshiped him. “You really are the Son of God!” they exclaimed.
In this story we see that the disciples were worried about the storm they were in a boat that really wasn't made for story waters. They were able to look towards Jesus, and become calm. In this story we see Peter have faith in God, and was able to walk on Water for a moment but when he stopped looking at God he started to sink. when God is not our guide, our life starts to become harder to handle. in the same way when we stop looking at God in the midst of our life we often start to see the darkness surrounding us and we can become lost.

God knows what he is doing.

When we are lost in life we need to look for help from people who have been in the situation before us. when we are lost in an unfamiliar area we need a guide who knows the city. when we are lost at sea wee need a compass, or a guide who can understand the stars. when we are lost in learning something, we need someone who knows what to do, to explain it to us.
In the same way God is the creator of the world, and knows the inner and outer workings of the world. God is the ultimate guide. When we need help in anything God has the answers.
But here is the thing. If God is the ultimate guide, than we should put our trust in him. Trust is one of the hardest things to give to someone, often if we have no reason to trust someone, then we wont, but if we put our trust in someone that means we have seen something in there character they have proven to us that they can be trusted.
so my question to you is; what proof do you need to put your trust in God? and what would your response be if you didn't get that proof.
