1/3 of the Plants Destroyed

Revelation 8:6–7 ESV
6 Now the seven angels who had the seven trumpets prepared to blow them. 7 The first angel blew his trumpet, and there followed hail and fire, mixed with blood, and these were thrown upon the earth. And a third of the earth was burned up, and a third of the trees were burned up, and all green grass was burned up.

1/3 of the Sea Blood

Revelation 8:8–9 ESV
8 The second angel blew his trumpet, and something like a great mountain, burning with fire, was thrown into the sea, and a third of the sea became blood. 9 A third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed.

1/3 of the Rivers Bitter

Revelation 8:10–11 ESV
10 The third angel blew his trumpet, and a great star fell from heaven, blazing like a torch, and it fell on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water. 11 The name of the star is Wormwood. A third of the waters became wormwood, and many people died from the water, because it had been made bitter.

1/3 Sun/Moon/Stars Darkened

Revelation 8:12–13 ESV
12 The fourth angel blew his trumpet, and a third of the sun was struck, and a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of their light might be darkened, and a third of the day might be kept from shining, and likewise a third of the night. 13 Then I looked, and I heard an eagle crying with a loud voice as it flew directly overhead, “Woe, woe, woe to those who dwell on the earth, at the blasts of the other trumpets that the three angels are about to blow!”
Why the earth is being judged for men’s sin?
Numbers 35:33–34 ESV
33 You shall not pollute the land in which you live, for blood pollutes the land, and no atonement can be made for the land for the blood that is shed in it, except by the blood of the one who shed it. 34 You shall not defile the land in which you live, in the midst of which I dwell, for I the Lord dwell in the midst of the people of Israel.”
Leviticus 18:24–25 ESV
24 “Do not make yourselves unclean by any of these things, for by all these the nations I am driving out before you have become unclean, 25 and the land became unclean, so that I punished its iniquity, and the land vomited out its inhabitants.
Decreation
Exodus 6:2–8 ESV
2 God spoke to Moses and said to him, “I am the Lord. 3 I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, as God Almighty, but by my name the Lord I did not make myself known to them. 4 I also established my covenant with them to give them the land of Canaan, the land in which they lived as sojourners. 5 Moreover, I have heard the groaning of the people of Israel whom the Egyptians hold as slaves, and I have remembered my covenant. 6 Say therefore to the people of Israel, ‘I am the Lord, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will deliver you from slavery to them, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great acts of judgment. 7 I will take you to be my people, and I will be your God, and you shall know that I am the Lord your God, who has brought you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians. 8 I will bring you into the land that I swore to give to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob. I will give it to you for a possession. I am the Lord.’ ”
Exodus 7:3–5 ESV
3 But I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and though I multiply my signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, 4 Pharaoh will not listen to you. Then I will lay my hand on Egypt and bring my hosts, my people the children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great acts of judgment. 5 The Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, when I stretch out my hand against Egypt and bring out the people of Israel from among them.”
In the Exodus...
God reveals Himself to Israel and Egypt so that they can know who He is - Creator and King.
God demonstrates His power to show that Pharoah won’t repent
Revelation 9:20–21 ESV
20 The rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands nor give up worshiping demons and idols of gold and silver and bronze and stone and wood, which cannot see or hear or walk, 21 nor did they repent of their murders or their sorceries or their sexual immorality or their thefts.
Counterfeit demonic demonstrations happen to mislead people
God redeems His people because of their prayers out of slavery, futility, and death
Blood - For blood.
Bitter water - You can’t use resources God supplies without being grateful for the Creator who gave them to you.

God is calling all people to repentance. Some actually will.

Revelation 14:6–7 ESV
6 Then I saw another angel flying directly overhead, with an eternal gospel to proclaim to those who dwell on earth, to every nation and tribe and language and people. 7 And he said with a loud voice, “Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come, and worship him who made heaven and earth, the sea and the springs of water.”
Do whatever you want can’t continue
teach whatever you want can’t continue
live however you want can’t continue
rule however you want can’t continue
If you think it is better to wait to see if these signs come to pass, you’re missing the point.
2 Peter 3:3–9 ESV
3 knowing this first of all, that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own sinful desires. 4 They will say, “Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things are continuing as they were from the beginning of creation.” 5 For they deliberately overlook this fact, that the heavens existed long ago, and the earth was formed out of water and through water by the word of God, 6 and that by means of these the world that then existed was deluged with water and perished. 7 But by the same word the heavens and earth that now exist are stored up for fire, being kept until the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly. 8 But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.

Redemption is not simply spiritual or physical.

He wants to redeem your body and your heart. Don’t approach God’s work in your life as merely one or the other.

Creation will be unmade to be remade.

Global warming
What is called when worms take over Earth? Global worming.
What do flat-earthers call global warming? Toast.
What do chefs call climate change? Over-seasoning.
Why is Leonardo DiCaprio so passionate about climate change? He owes icebergs his whole career.
Creation will be unmade. It’s going to happen by God because of man’s sin. But that’s better news than science because God provides a way. Don’t further Satan’s deceptions about global warming by trying to solve the debate. Remind people there is hope in Christ.

What are you living for?

If God is God, serve Him. He hates sin and will judge it. Because He sent Jesus to die on the cross.
He will redeem our lives. Because Jesus rose from the dead.
This is what Jesus wants you to conquer. Living for self.
