Get In The Game!
This “Game” is the game Life
This “Game” is my Spiritual walk
This “Game” is what Paul calls the “The good fight of the faith”
As we close this series we must be reminded:
You have to pick what team you play for!
I have to remember that this “game” has rules.
Last week, we dealt with the rules of the game.
Rules help to maintain order and discipline
“If you love me, keep my rules/commandments
I have to follow the playbook
A playbook, whether in sports or other domains, serves as a comprehensive guide outlining strategies, tactics, and actions for participants to achieve desired outcomes.
It provides a structured framework that ensures everyone involved understands their roles, responsibilities, and the overarching plan.
#1 Your Role Matters
With 11 players on each side of the ball during any given play, it's crucial that every player knows their exact role.
A minor mistake or miscommunication can result in a game-changing play.
The playbook ensures everyone knows their responsibility on every play.
God has given us natural abilities and through the Spirit, spiritual gifts!
#1 we are Ambassadors for Christ!
2 Corinthians 5:20 ESV
Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.
Just because you are gifted doesn’t mean you should be arrogant…
No matter how good the quarter back is… If the lineman don’t hold the line....
Paul tells them in Romans 12:3 “not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think”
Romans 12:4–8 ESV
For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.
Ephesians 4:11–12 ESV
And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ,
1 Peter 4:10–11 ESV
As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
We are gifted to equip one another.
We are gifted to build up one another.
We are gifted to serve one another.
If I don’t know my role, then I can’t be truly effective in my assignment!
#2 You have responsibilities
Faith and Trust in God:
Hebrews 11:6 ESV
And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
Love
Matthew 22:37–40 ESV
And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”
Prayer
Philippians 4:6 ESV
do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
Live a Holy Life
1 Peter 1:15–16 ESV
but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.”
#3 You have a strategy
Often times we may feel lost…
We may feel like we are going in circles...
We many feel like God is not there or He has forgotten about you!
But! The playbook is your GPS
Trust is Key!
Proverbs 3:5 ESV
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.
Give Him a chance!
1 Peter 5:7 ESV
casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.
No matter what!
Psalm 34:1 ESV
I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth.

I will bless the Lord means “I will praise (or, thank) the Lord”

How you thank Him is up to you!
1 Thessalonians 5:16–18 ESV
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
The playbook reminds me that I have a strategy!
