-Today we gather to worship the God who transforms us through the Gospel
-Judah was facing invasion from Assyria. Judah had a moment of decision: to submit to the Assyrians without a fight, to wage war against the Assyrians, or to repent of their sins and be delivered by the Lord
-We too can be rescued by the Lord, He will take us from our desperate situation and make us new, when we look to Him and to His Word, He sanctifies us and helps us to walk in all His ways
-Isaiah 30:18-22
Isaiah 30:18–22 ESV
18 Therefore the Lord waits to be gracious to you, and therefore he exalts himself to show mercy to you. For the Lord is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for him. 19 For a people shall dwell in Zion, in Jerusalem; you shall weep no more. He will surely be gracious to you at the sound of your cry. As soon as he hears it, he answers you. 20 And though the Lord give you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, yet your Teacher will not hide himself anymore, but your eyes shall see your Teacher. 21 And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left. 22 Then you will defile your carved idols overlaid with silver and your gold-plated metal images. You will scatter them as unclean things. You will say to them, “Be gone!”
-Today we will look at fundamental truth in the main text: that it is God alone through the gospel who transforms us, as much as we try to stop sinning, or to be a good person we are unable, but God because of His grace makes us alive together with Christ
Jude Rawls is going to come and read Ephesians 2:1-10 and pray a prayer of praise that God transforms us through the gospel
-When God transforms us through the Gospel, our desire changes, no longer should we desire to sin but our desire should be for holiness and righteousness, growing in Christ. When we do sin we are to live in repentance and turning away from sin
Mr David is going to come and read 1 John 5:18-21 and lead us in a prayer of repentance
