Chapter 1
1 The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach,
Luke wrote the book of acts.
1 Forasmuch as many have taken in hand to set forth in order a declaration of those things which are most surely believed among us,
many people involved in the collection of the bible
2 Even as they delivered them unto us, which from the beginning were eyewitnesses, and ministers of the word; 3 It seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write unto thee in order, most excellent Theophilus, 4 That thou mightest know the certainty of those things, wherein thou hast been instructed.
Theophilus: Luke wrote to this government official in Acts and Luke.
13 For I bear him record, that he hath a great zeal for you, and them that are in Laodicea, and them in Hierapolis. 14 Luke, the beloved physician, and Demas, greet you.
Luke had a perfect account of the acts of the apostles because he was with Paul
11 Only Luke is with me. Take Mark, and bring him with thee: for he is profitable to me for the ministry.
Luke travelled with Paul and Mark
1 The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach,
The former letter lets you know he wrote to him before (luke)
2 Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen:
The end of Luke segways to the book of Acts
45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, 46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: 47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
Teach all nations
27 And the Lord shall scatter you among the nations, and ye shall be left few in number among the heathen, whither the Lord shall lead you.
9 And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;
5 And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.
48 And ye are witnesses of these things. 49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.
2 Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen: 3 To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:
after christ died and came back he walked with them 40 days
