Jesus begins and ends this particular part of his farewell with an imperative – Believe in God – John 14:1.
1 “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.
What makes this imperative even more significant is the context.

Plot to kill Lazarus in addition to Jesus because people were believing in Christ because of him.

Jesus teaches we must lose our lives to be a servant of Christ

It is significant then, that he begins with this particular admonishment. He KNOWS their hearts are troubled.
