Promised Land part 1

Spies

a spy from each tribe sent to spy out the land

God knows whats there, the people are a show and a test

how is the land and how are the people- be of good courage

the spies return and the land is amazing but hte people are the descendants of giants

anak and the nephilim- beings of rebellion- the reason for God’s wiping them out

Caleb and Joshua see the world through the lense that we ought to have

there is no enemy that God can’t overcome, even a Nephilim

Rebellion

the report of the other ten spies is what the people listen to though and they rebel against God

they complain and form a party to return to Egypt

Moses contends with God once again on behalf of the people and God tells them that none of the generation but Joshua and Caleb will see the promised land

instead they will wonder until they have died off and their children will conquor the promised land

they go to try to do it their selves, and they are defeated and driven back

Application

you and I look at things that are difficult most naturally with a human perspective

not the cliche “all things are possible”

how do you weight the things in your life?

Joshua and Caleb understood the weight of things

if I let fear of something God has already overcome stop me, then there will likely not be any promise for me
