Psalm 42: Hope in God

Introduction

So you’ve been a Christian for quite some time now. You’ve been faithful in following the Lord, you’ve dealt with all those major sins in your life, you’ve been faithfully reading your bible, praying and spending time in fellowship. Perhaps you’ve even being doing exactly what God has been telling you to do, and little bit by little bit, your entire life has been falling apart. You’ve been given promises that haven’t come to pass the way you expected them to, everyone around you seems to be making this wonderful progress in their lives. People are getting married, having kids, being promoted in their careers, buying their first home and the grass just seems so much greener on the other side. You’re trying to explain your frustrations to those nearest to you, but they just don’t seem to understand what you’re going through. And they all have an opinion to share on your life and shortcomings. And to top it all off, God is dead silent. Your seeking Him, and his not saying anything. Your in desperate need in mulitiple areas of your life, especially financially - and by some miracle your scrapping by month to month, one reversed debit order at a time. How much longer Lord? Can’t you see how much pain what your allowing me to go through is causing me? My soul is bleeding, and there is no one to comfort me. Yet, the pressures of life just keep on drowing you and you need to draw out strength from the core of your being that you didn’t even know was there anymore.
