Notes
Transcript
I. Waiting can be hard.
II. Waiting for Jesus to return.
III. Do you believe that Jesus the bridegroom is coming?
IV. The unbelievers of the world would say no Jesus is not coming again.
V. People live as if Jesus was never coming back.
VI. Sinful human nature can easily follow the ways of the unbelievers of the world.
VII. As Christians we know the importance of living lives that honor God and His will for our lives.
VIII. All people will give an account and Romans 14:10–12 “For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God; for it is written, “As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.” So then each of us will give an account of himself to God.”
IX. We can learn from the parable of the ten virgins in Matthew 25:2-4, 6-10, “Five of them were foolish, and five were wise. For when the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them, but the wise took flasks of oil with their lamps. … But at midnight there was a cry, ‘Here is the bridegroom! Come out to meet him.’ Then all those virgins rose and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ But the wise answered, saying, ‘Since there will not be enough for us and for you, go rather to the dealers and buy for yourselves.’ And while they were going to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was shut.”
X. What terrifying words those who are not ready, like the five foolish virgins, will hear from Jesus on the Last Day, “Truly, I say to you, I do not know you.”
XI. Jesus’ coming to us now helps us to wait for His final coming.
XII. Conclusion Revelation 22:20. In the last chapter of the Bible in Revelation 22:20 Jesus says, “Surely, I am coming soon!” We echo the words of the writer of Revelation, John, and we say, “Amen, Come Lord Jesus!” Amen.
