INTRODUCTION
Isaiah 40:31 ESV
but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
Within this verse we see the key factor of staying strong in the Lord - and that is the concept of waiting on the Lord. But what does that mean?
Also do we understand the whole idea of who the Lord is?
Today we’ll focus in on 3 key points in the message.
What does it All Mean
First Become - Then Stay
Live the Right Life

1. What Does It All Mean?

When talking with people about God, salvation, forgiveness or any other biblical subject, you must first understand how they understand this subjects first.
People have differing views of:
Lord, Salvation, Forgiveness
Lord or God represent the same thing to all people.
Presbyterian view
Muslim view
Jewish view
Folk who are “spiritual” (pantheistic in nature)
What we mean is, Stay Strong in the Lord of the Bible
2 Peter 3:18 ESV
But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.

Hebrews 4:12 ESV
For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

2. First Become, Then Stay

I have to first BECOME strong in the Lord, before I can STAY strong in the Lord
Or better yet, how do I maintain my strength as I continue to grow in strength?

Acknowledge Your Human Limitations an Weakness

Psalm 28:7 ESV
The Lord is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him.
2 Corinthians 12:9 ESV
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Study and Meditate on God’s Word

Joshua 1:8 ESV
This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

Allow the Word to Transform Your Mind and Heart

God is not going to violate your freewill and make you do what He says
You have religions that will kill you if you do not convert to their religion

Nurture a Vibrant Prayer Life

Our prayers must go beyond the nursery rhyme phase
I encourage you all to make prayer a priority, being honest, persistent, and grateful in their communication with God.
Don’t treat God as a cosmic bellhop
Philippians 4:6–7 ESV
do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

3. Live the Right Life

Not a life of self-indulgence, self-importance, jealousy, selfishness.
But one that is eager to serve, selflessness, humble, steadfast in the faith, and judging and discerning righteously
1 John 5:3 ESV
For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome.
