John 14:2 CSB
In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you?
Matthew 25:34 CSB
Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.
1 Peter 1:4 CSB
and into an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you.
2 Corinthians 4:17 CSB
For our momentary light affliction is producing for us an absolutely incomparable eternal weight of glory.
These are verses many of us have heard before, but to the faithful, these are not just words written in a book. These are promises we hold dear. Promises that tell us that what we have here on earth is but a moment in time. Promises to those who have repented and placed their faith in Jesus Christ, that there is a place of glory for us.
Janice knew these promises. She lived her life as one who knew the Lord and trusted in His Words. She was a woman who had a servants heart. She the example to all showing that you need not be perfect to serve a perfect God.
The loss we feel is because of this. When you met Janice, you felt that infectious love she had for people.
December 13, 2020- I walked thru those doors and I was greeted by Thelma and Louise. Rosalie and Janice. There I was nervous and worried, they made me feel like I was family as soon as I came in. They also facebook stalked me, but that story is for another day. From that moment on Janice loved me, cared for me and my family, fought for me and supported me as the pastor and did everything she could for this church. But that was Janice. She loved with everything in her and you felt it.
Most of the faces here are the same faces that was here 4 1/2 months ago when Terrona went to be with the Lord. I saw strength that I have never seen before, when Janice loved on, hugged on and smiled at everyone, even though she was hurting so much inside. She let only a handful of people see her hurt. She was a fighter. She fought and beat cancer. She was the example to those fighting that dreadful disease, that you can fight, that there is light at the end of the tunnel. She held on to her faith and knew that to live is Christ to die is gain.
And is this that we celebrate through our tears, that Janice has gained. She has received her reward for a life well lived for the Lord. I can see her encircling His throne singing Holy, Holy, Holy!
I will say I struggled with what I think Janice would want everyone here to know.
My mind keeps going back to
Revelation 21:4 CSB
He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; grief, crying, and pain will be no more, because the previous things have passed away.
Janice knew of grief, crying and pain, and she would want those of you here to know she is no longer feeling those things. She would want you to know that she is in a place of pure joy, happiness, love and glory. She would one day want you there too. She has collected her inheritance and she wants you to collect yours one day. The only way to collect it is through a loving relationship with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She would tell you, do not wait. Accept Him now, today.
You do not know how quickly death can come. For our sweet sister Janice, it came quickly. Janice would tell you to call out the name of Jesus Christ now before it is too late.
To the friends of Janice, continue to pray for the family as they go through this time of loss and pain.
To the church family, do not let the loss of Janice stop her legacy here.
1 Corinthians 9:24–27 CSB
Don’t you know that the runners in a stadium all race, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way to win the prize. Now everyone who competes exercises self-control in everything. They do it to receive a perishable crown, but we an imperishable crown. So I do not run like one who runs aimlessly or box like one beating the air. Instead, I discipline my body and bring it under strict control, so that after preaching to others, I myself will not be disqualified.
To the family, i know words right now can not bring comfort, please allow the Holy Spirit to bring you comfort with these words
Psalm 147:3 CSB
He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds.
Allow Him to heal your broken heart and wipe your tears.
To my sweet Janice, Enjoy glory and I long for the day to be there with you and will stand knowing that you ran your race and you have received your crown.
James 1:12 CSB
Blessed is the one who endures trials, because when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.
And I know without a shadow of a doubt you heard these words
Matthew 25:21 CSB
“His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You were faithful over a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Share your master’s joy.’
