Have you ever had a decision to make? A decision where you knew that one way to go was right and the other would lead to sin?
We are faced with this choices everyday, some might seem innocent enough, if I up may speed to 89 on the freeway I can make up time, but I am going to be breaking the law
Romans 13:1 ( Let Every Person be Subject to the governing authorities) or go the speed limit and be late.
I was faced with this choice and chose very wrong
Story of speeding to AZ for Christmas
Desires Often war within us, The desires to not obey Christ, and follow earthly desires.
We justify things to try to make it ok
it’s just a little lie, or a white lie, it won’t hurt anyone
I don’t need to give back the extra change I got at the store, it was their mess up
it’s only pictures or videos, it’s not like I am really cheating
it’s Only, fill in the blank _________
This is because sin works at every level, in the most seductive of ways to lure us away from faithfulness to Christ.
We must be obedient, and that is a form of worship
Romans 12:1–2 NIV
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Offering ourselves as living sacrifices is worship, we see that holy and acceptable to God is the way we do it, what does it mean?
We must follow what the Bible says we are todo
Obey God
Let’s look at the greatest commandment,
Matthew 22:37–40 (NIV)
Jesus replied: “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
When we read verse 40 it means The whole Old Testament
Example of living sacrificially because of love, Karen asking me to do the Landry
When God asks us to do something we are going to do it because We Love HIM
We live for more than ourselves, we live for a higher calling, we are to live for Jesus, and if we are living for Jesus than we must obey what God asks us to do, and this is our worship. Verse 2 continues how how to continually worship, AS ROMANS 12 says our spiritual worship
In Romans it continues by saying
Romans 12:2 NIV
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
We need to live for Christ, but also be transformed
How are we transformed, well Paul tells us, renewing our mind
As non-believers we are not living for Christ
we are inwardly looking
we look for our best interests
Renewing our mind means that we abandon our self, live as a living sacrifice and live a life devoted to God, instead of ourselves.
our obedience is worship to God
But what happens when it might get difficult to be obedient
1st this is not something that we do our of obligation
It can be easy to get caught up in doing “Christian stuff” out of a sense of obligation, We can even sacrifice things for God out of religious duty instead of from loving obedience, thus missing the heart of worshipful living for the Saviour.
If will obey with the wrong heart, when things get difficult or we are not having a good day or whatever else happens we will fall away,
we have to keep our hearts toward God, and Love Him or we will fall
Daniel haD THE RIGHT HEART,
Setup the lions den/
Daniel had God’s favor, and was doing well/
The others wanted to get Daniel in trouble/
they made it so anyone that Prays to anything other then Darius they would be thrown in the lions den
Daniel 6:10 NIV
Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been published, he went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened toward Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before.
If Daniel was only being obedient because of obligation he would not have been able to remain obedient even when his life was threatened.
So how do we become Obedient?

We Follow The Greatest Commandment

Matthew 22:37–40 NIV
Jesus replied: “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
Love God, If you work at getting closer to God, our love for God will grow, it does take work, but all relationship take work.
Spend time reading His Word
Spend time in prayer, not just asking Him for things, but really just being quit and listening as well

Seek God’s Will When Decision Come Up

Instead of just jumping to a choice, maybe take a moment and ask God what His Will Might be
Karen makes me so mad sometimes, when I want something that might not be so wise, she tells me to pray. the problem is, she is right

Work On The Fruits Of The Spirit

Galatians 5:22–23 ESV
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
When things are going on in your life, find ways of putting these fruits to use
Someone cuts you off, instead of yelling of talking to them in sign language, choose peace and let it go
When things are hard and you are worried about the future, instead of freaking out/ take a moment and pray and have faith
When a person with a full buggy at walmart cuts you off when you have one thing and their basket is full to the brim and they decide that they want to have a long conversation with the cashier and then realizes that they forgot something so the say, “hold on” and run to the back of the store to get that item and you now have been stand there for 15 minutes and all you have is a diet coke. instead of giving them dirty looks and imagining slapping them, have patience and ask if they need help.
The point is that to have genuine worship we need to be obedient to God
