God Is Going to do the Work!
Text:
For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
The NLT says the same verse this way:
For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.
The Bible declares in this verse that “whom he did foreknow”.
According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
Can I share with you, from this scripture a mind-blowing truth?
Even before God made the world, he chose us. He loved us before the world was even created.
Secondly, within the text, the text tells us that God chose us to be holy and without fault in his eyes. How is that possible? When I see the blood.....I will.....pass over.
The third mind blowing thing is that before the world was even formed or fashioned, God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family, by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ.
God saw you before you were even born, he saw you when you were in your Mother’s womb, but even before you hit your mother’s womb......before the world was formed and fashioned, he loved you, and he chose you.
That’s mind blowing to me.....because God chose me.....before I chose Him.
God chose me, see I know some of yall think that you deserved to be chosen, but God chose me even though He knew that I would disobey Him, He chose me even though he knew there would be times that I would mess up. But yet, in-spite of my weaknesses, my quirks, imperfections, and sins.......God still chose me.
God knows what your going to do before you do it. He knows you intimately, even though you may not know Him.
Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile! Nathanael saith unto him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee. Nathanael answered and saith unto him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel.
It blew Nathanael’s mind that Jesus knew everything about him. Nathanel is probably thinking “this man don’t know me......how you know me” and Jesus says, “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree.....I saw you.
Jesus knows who you are, what you are doing, and where you are at!!!
Watch this.......Jesus couldn’t say the same about all the disciples. Because Peter had some hang ups, John and James were called the sons of Thunder, they had a temper problem, and lets not even get on the subject of Judas who betrayed the LORD.
Not to mention the fact that they were not the smartest educated amongst folk.......BUT GOD STILL CHOSE THEM AND CALLED THEM.
When God chose you, he chose you to be conformed. Someone say “conformed” to be assimilated, which means to become like, to become similar to a person, thing, or ideal.
God chose you, everyone who is saved, everyone who has accepted the call of Jesus Christ, God chose you in advance, and not only did He choose you, He chose you to be like Jesus. I know you Oneness Pentecostals have a hard time grappling with the word of this, but the wording is the wording and you can’t change the word to fit your ideals and your errant doctrine.
God chose you to be like Jesus. We are called, what are we called for?
We are called to be sanctified (Romans 1:6)
We are called with a purpose (Romans 8:28)
We are called to be justified (Romans 8:30)
We are called to be glorified (Romans 8:30)
Called unto fellowship (1 Cor 1:9)
Called unto peace (1 Cor 7:15)
There are many more callings, but the one we want to hone in on this morning is:
Brethren, let every man, wherein he is called, therein abide with God.
I know that it may seem to be out of context to those who are doctrinally sound, because we are not dealing with this scripture in its context, but the fact remains that every man (human) is called, and if you are called of God, you need to abide, you need to live in, you need to stay in God.
Don’t swerve to the left nor the right, God did not call you to go into reverse, He did not call you for you to backslide, He did not call you to live like the world and to the world’s standards, nor to assimilate and be like your friends, your family members, your co-workers, your classmates who don’t know Him.
God didn’t call you to follow the latest trends, He didn’t call you to be like the people on Ticktok, Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.......YOU’RE FOLLOWING THESE PEOPLE.....BUT THE QUESTION IS.....ARE YOU FOLLOWING GOD!!!!
God didn’t call you to look like Gucci-mane, Drake, Lil Wayne, J. Cole, or Kendrick Lamar, or Travis Scott. God didn’t call you to look like Sexy Red, Nicki Minaj, Cardi B, or Megan Thee Stallion. God didn’t call you to look like Kim Kardashian, or the Next Top Model, God didn’t call you to look and act like your favorite celebrity, or your favorite media influencer.
God called you to look like and to be like JESUS!!!! He wants Jesus to be your influencer!
Herein lies the thing that we need to understand:
Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
Again it is Paul he declares:
It is God
Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,
And again
Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace. And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.
In the text, Paul is talking about Israel. But we can apply this same logic to the saints of God. In a time where many are leaving the church, they have backslid back out into the world. Many young adults have left the church according to the pew statistics, for one reason or another.
But there is a remnant that has remained faithful. And they have remained faithful because of God’s grace, and God’s grace is undeserved kindness. It means that everyone that God has saved, everyone that God has called, you need to understand that He DID NOT HAVE TO CHOSE YOU! HE COULD HAVE CHOSE SOMEONE ELSE!
It is through God’s kindness that you are saved today. See you thought because you did X,Y, and Z that you are saved. You think because you went down in the water in Jesus’ name that or maybe be if you were baptized in Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, that is what saved you. NO!!! YOU ARE SAVED BECAUSE GOD CHOSE YOU......HE CALLED YOU AND HE DIDN’T HAVE TO BUT HE WAS KIND TO YOU!
COME ON every saved person testify to about three people and tell them GOD HAS BEEN GOOD TO ME!!!
Why you tell me to do that Pastor? Cause I’m trying to get you warmed up for what you ought to be doing in the streets, on your job, in your homes, with your friends and family.
YOU NEED TO REALIZE HOW GOOD GOD HAS BEEN TO YOU......AND YOU NEED TO TELL SOMEBODY!!! COME ON LET’S GET SOME MORE PRACTICE.....TELL ANOTHER THREE PEOPLE GOD HAS BEEN GOOD TO ME.
NOW THAT YOU’VE WITNESSED TO SOMEONE......HOW DID IT MAKE YOU FEEL? How much more will God do for you, when you tell someone that doesn’t know Jesus!!! How much more when you tell someone and it impacts their life and God uses you to draw them unto HIM!!!
Some of us still don’t understand the principle of grace. But let me give you a crash course:
God’s grace is given through his kindness, it is a gift. You don’t work for a gift, a gift is freely given to you. When a gift is given, it is given freely, you don’t have to pay no money for it, you don’t have to work to get it, it is given to you freely!
Secondly, when a gift is given to you, it is done so with the intention of showing favor and kindness to that person.
What you need to understand is that while you were living in your sins, you were deserving of death.......BUT GOD SHOWED YOU FAVOR!!! YOU DID NOTHING TO DESERVE GOD CHOOSING YOU, YOU DID NOTHING TO EARN GOD’S GRACE, MERCY, AND FAVOR IN YOUR LIFE!!! You didn’t have to work for it!
The LORD said, don’t worry about this gift......I’ve given you something that is priceless, no amount of gold or silver can’t pay for this, all the money in the world can’t pay for what I’m giving you!!! I couldn’t use money, Jesus said......I USED MY BLOOD!
I PAID FOR YOUR SINS
I PAID FOR YOUR FORGIVENESS
I PAID FOR YOUR REDEMPTION
I PAID FOR YOUR FREEDOM
I PAID FOR YOUR SALVATION
I PAID FOR YOUR HEALING
I PAID FOR YOUR DELIVERANCE
I PAID FOR YOUR PEACE
I PAID FOR YOUR VICTORY
I PAID FOR YOUR ETERNAL LIFE
I’VE GONE AWAY TO PREPARE A NEW PLACE FOR YOU.....AND GUESS WHAT.......THE RENT HAS ALREADY BEEN TAKEN CARE OF.......I PAID IT......WHEN THEY HUNG ME HIGH.......I PAID IT WHEN THEY STRETCHED ME WIDE......I PAID IT, WHEN THEY NAILED MY HANDS......I PAID IT WHEN THEY NAILED MY FEET......I PAID IT WHEN THEY WHIPPED MY BACK OPENED......I PAID IT WHEN THEY PIERCED MY SIDE.......I PAID IT WHEN THE BLOOD CAME STREAMING DOWN MY FACE.
JUST HOLLER AT SOMEONE AND TELL THEM I’M COVERED!!!! I’M COVERED BY THE BLOOD!!!! I’M INSURED BY THE BLOOD!!!!
ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS BELIEVE IT AND ACCEPT THIS FREE GIFT THAT I HAVE FOR YOU!!
AND AFTER YOU BELIEVE AND ACCEPT.....YOU NEED TO REMAIN IN HIM!!!
I had more.....but I want to keep it short this morning......I’ll give you the rest next Sunday Lord willing.
I want to close with this scripture:
Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
Paul says that he is confident. Are you confident to? Are you confident that you will be completely saved? If not.....then you are probably basing it if your works. If you do this right, if you do that right and you are putting all this pressure on yourself to perform.
This is the incorrect way to be saved. Because you are operating in unbelief. You’re not placing your trust in The Lord, you are place your trust in self.
There is a second incorrect way of thinking. The second is that you think you are going to be saved because you are doing X,Y, and Z. You’re not doing this, you’re not doing that. Again, that is inerrant thinking. Because again, your faith isn’t in God, it is in your own righteousness. That’s called self-righteousness.
You’re not going to be saved because your Bishop so and so, or Elder so and so. You’re not going to be saved because your Prophet Peabody, or Missionary Mattie Mae.
The correct way of being saved is to put ALL YOUR TRUST IN GOD.......THAT WHAT GOD STARTED.......HE’S GOING TO FINISH!

If you are saved, if you have been baptized in Jesus’ name and have the Holy Ghost abiding on the inside. I’m going to say this......and some of you not going to like it. But even if you been baptized in titles but you have received the gift of the Holy Ghost.....with the evidence of speaking in tongues as the Spirit gives utterance, grab someone by their hand and say these words, and say it with confidence......tell them like you know what your talking about. Say:
We are going to quote Psalm 138:8.
Tell your neighbor, “Neighbor.......The Lord WILL.....perfect that which concerneth me!” Tell them one more time.
That means “The LORD will work out his plans for my life.”
What plans?
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
Maybe you didn’t understand that.....okay let’s read it in a different translation.
For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.
Let’s make this declaration.....we getting out of here. Find 3 people that you haven’t talked to this morning and tell them. GOD IS GOING TO WORK IT OUT!!!!
Yes......everything in your life......even your salvation......HE’S GOING TO WORK IT OUT!!!! DO YOU BELIEVE IT......DO YOU BELIEVE WHAT GOD’S WORD SAYS??? BECAUSE GUESS WHAT YALL......GOD CANNOT LIE!!!! THE DEVIL IS A LIAR.......BUT GOD’S WORD IS TRUE......AND IT SHALL COME TO PASS!!!! AND IF YOU BELIEVE GOD IS GOING TO WORK EVERYTHING OUT IN YOUR LIFE.......INCLUDING YOUR SALVATION.......YOU OUGHT TO CELEBRATE IT!!!
End:
The last part of Psalms 138:8 declares:
“Thy mercy, O LORD endureth for ever:”
The word mercy is translated “faithful love”.......God is faithful......he can be counted on. LORD JESUS!!!! I said God can be trusted and counted on.......you don’t have it yet....let me help you some more.......YOU CAN DEPEND ON GOD’S LOVE........WAIT.....YOU DON’T HAVE IT YET.......EVEN ON THE DAYS THAT YOU MESS UP.......GOD’S LOVE IS FAITHFUL........HE’S STILL GOING TO WORK OUT HIS PLANS FOR YOUR LIFE.
HERE THE WORD OF THE LORD........GOD SAYS........I WON’T DO YOU LIKE OTHER PEOPLE HAVE DONE YOU. I STARTED A WORK IN YOU AND I INTEND TO FINISH THE WORK. EVEN IN THE TIMES THAT YOU MESS UP.......I LOVE YOU ENOUGH TO PICK YOU UP, TO FORGIVE YOU, TO WASH THE DIRT OFF YOU, AND TO TELL YOU TO KEEP GOING......BECAUSE I LOVE YOU!
David pens this song. You know how many times David messed up? He first of all commits adultery, then he puts out a hit on the woman’s husband, has him killed, tries to cover his sin, then he messes up a third time and numbers the people......he puts his trust not in God, but his trust in how many soldiers he has in his army, and God sends a plague for his sins.
But in-spite of all his mess ups......David pens that GOD’S LOVE IS FAITHFUL......HE’S BEEN WITH ME ALL THIS TIME. JUST TELL SOMEONE HE’S BEEN WITH ME ALL THIS TIME!
David ends Psalm 138:8 but saying a simple prayer that we are going to recite.
I want you to close your eyes and lift your hands unto the LORD. I want you to pray this prayer deeply and sincerely. You may have to repeat this a couple of times.....once may be sufficient for some people. But if this is truly your hearts desire.....then pour this prayer out to God until you feel your help come:
“LORD, FORSAKE NOT THE WORKS OF THINE OWN HANDS”
Come on Saints of God.......really reach out to God on this one.....because someone today gonna get some help that they really need.
