Romans 3:23-25 or Romans 3:21-26
21 But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it— 22 the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction: 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25 whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God’s righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins. 26 It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.
1.. Justification and Redemption are necessary
Because God is righteous
God’s Law is righteous
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
We needed something to make us righteous.
21 you then who teach others, do you not teach yourself? While you preach against stealing, do you steal? 22 You who say that one must not commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples?
We could never change our identity from sinner to righteous.
2. Justification and Redemption are a gift.
Romans 3:23–25 (ESV)
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25 whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood…
The price for this gift is the blood of Jesus
3. Justification and Redemption are received through faith. JUST AS IF I Never Sinned
Romans 3:23–26 (ESV)
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25 whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith….
God does the work for EVERYONE
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
Only those who believe God or have faith in God will be able to receive what has been bought for them and is being handed to them.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
God works salvation in this way because it rests alone on His righteousness. WE NEVER HAVE OUR OWN.
25 whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God’s righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins. 26 It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.
We still struggle with unrighteousness here and now… But as far as God is concerned, we are righteous!!
God’s opinion is the only one that matters
God’s opinion has the power to overwrite reality.
ONE DAY, JESUS IS GOING TO COME BACK AND RESURRECT THE DEAD - AT THAT TIME HE WILL PHYSICALLY MANIFEST ALL THAT IS TRUE ACCORDING TO GOD!
