Prayer Text

(Adam) Most holy and gracious heavenly Father,
(Amanda) We come before you to say thank you for the blessings of freedom we experience in this land. We thank you for the gift of gathering here today.
(Adam) We thank you for being a God who hears and answers prayers, and today we begin with a plea for peace in the war torn Middle East. Your desire was never war and bloodshed, and we pray for Your wisdom and power to defend the innocent and protect those caught in the ravages of war.
(Adam) Lord, for families in need today, we pray that your hand will provide. For families that are broken and isolated, we ask you to destroy division and bring healing and unity.
(Amanda) Father, we ask you to be the source of wisdom for our civic leaders at every level. We pray especially for the local leaders in this room, that they lead with compassion and integrity and seek Your face in every decision they make.
(Amanda) We know you are the God who heals and protects. We ask you to defend those who serve our communities in times of peril and chaos. Be with our police, fire, EMS and health care workers, and equip them to respond like Jesus.
(Adam) Lord Jesus, we ask you to walk the hallways of our local schools. We pray that your example would be seen in our schools and that teachers who know Your name stand as beacons of light.
(Adam) Lord, renew in the hearts of business leaders and the faith community alike a common vision to lead with a servants’ heart. Restore hearts that are broken and ignite a fire in them to come together to transform our cities.
(Amanda) Finally, we thank you for those who have served this country through the sacrifice of military service. Bring peace to families of those who serve now and to those who have experienced the loss of a loved one through military service.
(Adam) We ask all of these things in the matchless and powerful name of Jesus Christ, who’s death and resurrection offers us life. Amen.
