When lions attack
When lions attack
Lions are apex predators. They hunt, kill, and eat.
Siegfried and Roy example
Why would people play with a lion?
Why would people play with a lion?
we laugh at these people sometimes because it is humorous that someone would think that they can tame, or play with a lion. We all know that they cant. But we do the same thing with our sin.
Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. To him be the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

First thing that Peter talks about here is humility.
Again, humility is not seeing ourselves as garbage, but rather seeing us compared to who God is.
God’s mighty hand. That He will protect us and offer us a way out from our sin.
No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.

we can cast everything on Him because He cares for us. He is not someone who just threw us in this world and left us, but rather a father that loves us.
Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world.
Other translations say to be self-controlled here. Basically we should be involving ourselves in things that can pull us away from God. Things that take our eyes off of him. We need to be alert
Roaring Lion metaphor. We are told to resist him.
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world.
We are also told to be firm in our faith. The faith that God is with us, the faith that believes in the 1 Corinthians passage.
There is also a promise here as well. We know that all believers around the world are facing similar trials and sufferings in the same way that we are. Believers all over the world are facing the same temptation for the same sin that you are.
Satan loves to try and lie and say that you are a “bad Christian”
And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. To him be the dominion forever and ever. Amen.
The suffering a little while is the time here on this earth. This is the promise to come, that we do not live here forever. That this is temporary. We can rest in that.
