Root word: Gentle/Meek/Humble
Is a guaranteed Fruit of the Spirit. Fruit being singular here. Meaning a believer WILL have all of the qualities regarding the Spirit. This isn’t debatable. A believer will be gentle.
Galatians 5:23 “gentleness, and self-control. The law is not against such things.”
Titus 3:2 “to slander no one, to avoid fighting, and to be kind, always showing gentleness to all people.”
Galatians 6:1 “Brothers and sisters, if someone is overtaken in any wrongdoing, you who are spiritual, restore such a person with a gentle spirit, watching out for yourselves so that you also won’t be tempted.”
A few key verses here. First is Ga 5:23. This is referring to the Fruits a believer will have. Fruits of the Spirit are essentially the life of Christ lived out in a Christian. A “Christ-formed” believer.
Tt 3:2 is one people love to ignore. This is about Christians living among others. “To slander NO ONE, to avoid fighting and be kind ALWAYS showing gentleness to EVERYONE.” This isn’t subjective. It’s not a recommendation. It’s a command. And if you continually ignore it, you shouldn’t be surprised when you come to find out you yourself, will be spending eternity away from God.
Ga 6:1 Paul is being hypothetical here, but is saying if you know a fellow Christian who has “back-slidden” that we are to restore, or mend, that person with a focus on gentleness. Because we as Christians are to always be conscious that no one is immune to sin.
