King James Version (1 Corinthians 11:23-24)
23 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: 24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. 25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. 26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death till he come.

1. Remembrance Day was set in place so that we did not forget what was done for us.

Over 16 million troops from North America served in teh conflict with hundreds of thousands dying.
Lest we forget.
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
To take up the battle, to not forget whats right and remember th great sacrifice that men and women gave. Some gave their entire lives.

2. Why did these people go to war and be willing to give their lives?

i. To protect those they love.
To fight for those they love.
Pearl Harbour - Decenber 7th, 1941
Germany
ii. To protect the land they love.
The nation was at risk. If they got their way.
iii. To stop the evil efforts of an ungodly regime against humanity.
The purge. The holocaust. The satanic influence behind hitler and the nazis.
iv. The right of freedom.
v. The right to live.

3. The idea of Remembrance Day did not start because of World War 1 or World War 2.

As a matter of fact it existed thousands of years before either of these wars.
Egyptian bondage.
King James Version (Exodus 12:14)
And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to the LORD throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever.
Jesus.

4. We must remember what Jesus did for us!

This world must remember what Jesus did for them!
God took on flesh. The hypostatic union. The incarnation. Immanuel. God with us!
He came to this world to fight for the souls of humanity.
He was in war when He entered it.
Herod and Bethlehem.

Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, 18 In Rama was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not.

He fought in the wilderness.
He fought in the streets.
The animosity and the times they wanted to stone Him to death.
He fought in the temple.
He fought in the garden.
He fought on the cross.
HE DID THIS THIS FOR A SPECIFIC REASON!
i. He went to war and gave His life to protect those that He loves.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

ii. He went to war and gave His life to protect the land that He created.
The devil might believe he owns this world but in reality God owns this world.

1  aThe earth is the LORD’s, and the fulness thereof;

The world, and they that dwell therein.

2  For he hath founded it upon the seas,

And established it upon the floods.

The devil might have tried to take it over but God is the one who reigns and will reign from sea to shining sea!
iii. He went to war and gave His life to stop the evil efforts of the kingdom of darkness over the lives of men and women and children alike.
iv. He went to war to bring freedom.

36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is liberty!
v. He went to war because He believed in and had given humanity the right to live.
He fought for you and me. He died and gave His lifes blood for you and me. He did it so that we could have freedom and live in peace!
So how can we forget.
