Psalm 25:4-5

The other day, I was listening to some of Elvis’ Gospel music, I thought I have heard them all, but one came on from his home recordings.......I guess he wrote it......Show Me Thy Way, O Lord!
These are the lyrics: Show me thy ways, O Lord Show me thy ways, O Lord Help me love when I'm hated Spread joy unabated Show me Thy ways, O Lord
Jesus was more than just a man from Galilee Christ the son of God, he died for you and me They scorched him and walked him upon in delight Still Jesus loved them, forgave and he cried
Show me thy ways, O Lord Show me thy ways, O Lord Help me love when I'm hated Spread joy unabated Show me thy ways, O Lord
Short but true.....Help me love when I am hated, spread joy unabated (being at full strength or force)
These are all attributes of Jesus the Christ the Son of the Living God, these are not human attributes period!
David wrote about this in Psalm 25:4-5........
My salvation is in and through God and His Son Jesus Christ, to be saved I must learn of them!
Jesus said in Matthew 11:28–30 “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
Jesus tells us to learn of Him.....truly that His way is the only way to the Father!
Yes, I have done nothing to earn my salvation, but with that knowledge why wouldn’t I want to know His way?
We have spoke a lot lately about the Sermon on the Mount......where Jesus spoke of His ways
So, my thought about this when I heard the song was.......When we struggle or when we are troubled, it seems that we are always looking for a solution, praying for that..........I am guilty, when the trouble comes looking straight for the end of the struggle..........nothing wrong with that, mind you, but in looking for the end, we might be missing the lesson!
The prayer of the believer should be “show me Your way, O Lord!” “Teach me Your way, O Lord”
I don’t believe that we as humans understand fully the great divide in our way and God’s way!
Also, I do not believe that we put the importance on God’s way!
It is not that we earn salvation but that we are His people declaring that salvation is from the Lord!
Psalm 119 :9-16 tells us a great deal......
Verse 11 tells us that he has hid God’s Word in his heart so that he might not sin against God!
The whole part of this, is that no matter what we are going through, the emphasis would be on God’s way, sometimes we need to be taught that or be shown.....
“Lord, during this time of trouble keep me in Your way, show me your way!”
Psalm 86:11 “Teach me thy way, O Lord; I will walk in thy truth: Unite my heart to fear thy name.”
Walking in God’s truth, rather than our solution is the only true way!
Peter is speaking in his first letter about suffering for Christ.....He starts off in 1 Peter 2:11 “Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;”
As strangers and pilgrims, we are set apart from this world because of our self-denial and belief in Jesus Christ!
We do battle the fleshly lusts and we live in a world/society that blur the lines of what is fleshly and what is spirit.......the only way to distinguish is through the example of Jesus Christ in God’s Word!
As we finish 1 Peter 2:20-25..........Christ is our example.......When you do well (living in Christ) and suffer for it, take it. patiently!
Jesus did and He is our example that we follow in His footsteps!
During His suffering, He did not sin, No guile found in His mouth, When He was reviled He didn’t revile back!
