What the Bible says about Pastors and Priests

Religion has changed the understanding and function of Pastors and Priests as outlined in the Bible. The role of the priests and pastors in the church has much more to do with function than position or title and too many believe the functions and meaning of pastors are synonomous with priests. This has resulted in problems in the Church to include pastors that focus on their title rather than their function with a propensity to cultivate organizational authority reflective of a military or governmental organization rather than serve as a guide, mentor and provider of spiritual food for the congregation.
Egocentrism, ambition and materialism entered the 2nd century Church and is the catalyst of many issues starting with the politicization of the Church by the Romans and rise of the “charismatic” and apostate churches of today. The fruit of these churches are universities and governments full of confusion and perversion along with unconstrained access to things that feed the lust of the flesh, lust of the eye and pride of life.
We see sermons that work more toward sensationalism and to impress than to convey the purpose of the Word of God . Explaining the meaning of the Word of God is in order as it was written in Hebrew, Arabic and Latin and sometimes it takes the Spirit to help guide. Using the Word to realize ambitions and to cement control over the church is not in order.
Jeremiah 2:8 “The priests said not, Where is the Lord? and they that handle the law knew me not: the pastors also transgressed against me, and the prophets prophesied by Baal, and walked after things that do not profit.”
