The Infusion of the Gospel Code
The Infusion of the Gospel Code
Col. 1:9-11
The title of this message seems to grab at the sensational or even to create an interest based upon current fads or movies. But I can assure you it is far from sensational and revealing to the truth of this passage.
It is common for evangelical Christians to think of salvation as the starting point in a race towards holiness; where we the participants run with our own might striving toward perfection. God has given us the means and the equipment to run and so now let’s get going!
However, the truth of the gospel goes farther than equipping! Yes the gospel means good news, but that good news goes beyond the narrative of what Christ has done, but extends to what I call the “infusion of the gospel code” which is a spiritual empowering and direction for the believer by the Holy Spirit.
I. TO FILL WITH THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOD’S WILL.
And, to do it with wisdom and understanding.
(See verse list)
II. TO WALK WORTHY UNTO ALL PLEASING.
III. TO BE FRUITFUL UNTO EVERY GOOD WORK.
IV. TO BE EVER INCREASING IN THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOD.
V. TO STRENGTHEN WITH MIGHT.
Romans 12:2 (KJV)
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
1 Thessalonians 4:3 (KJV)
3 For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:
1 Thessalonians 5:18 (KJV)

1 Peter 2:15 (KJV)
15 For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:
1 Peter 3:17 (KJV)
17 For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.
1 Peter 4:2 (KJV)
2 That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.
