Contentment is a state of being where one is satisfied with their current situation, and the state of affairs in one’s life as they presently are. If one is content, they are pleased with their situation and how the elements in one’s life are situated.
8 Contributors to Peace of Mind
Duke University did a study on “peace of mind.” Factors found to contribute greatly to emotional and mental stability are: 1. The absence of suspicion and resentment. Nursing a grudge was a major factor in unhappiness. 2. Not living in the past. An unwholesome preoccupation with old mistakes and failures leads to depression. 3. Not wasting time and energy fighting conditions you cannot change. Cooperate with life, instead of trying to run away from it.
Today I want to speak to you about a topic that often eludes us in our fast paced and materialistic world “Contentment.”
As a spirit filled believer, we are filled with the Holy Spirit, and this divine presence should guide us into finding true contentment.

I. Understanding Contentment

A. Contentment versus complacency
This is not speaking of a lack of ambition, some better get a clue, because earning years will come to an end.
Contentment is not complacency. It doesn't mean being passive but finding peace in any circumstance.
Paul's example in Philippians 4: 11 -13: “I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.” Paul’s circumstances did not move him, to leave God. Don’t let circumstances dictate your life, God’s Spirit does that.
B. materialism and the pursuit of happiness.
The world often tells us that happiness, comes from possessions, success or wealth.
Matthew 6:19-21: “do not store up for yourselves treasures on the Earth....”
I. The Pursuit of Happiness vs. the Gift of Contentment
In our society, we often confuse the pursuit of happiness with true contentment. We think that if we have more money, a better job, a bigger house, or greater success, then we will finally find true happiness and contentment. However, the Bible tells us that true contentment does not come from external circumstances or material possessions.
2. Comparison: One of the biggest stumbling blocks to contentment is the poisonous habit of comparison. When we compare our lives, possessions, and achievements with others, we rob ourselves of the joy and contentment that God has designed uniquely for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus and run our own race rather than comparing ourselves with others (Hebrews 12:1-2).II. The Source Of True Contentment

Ephesians 6:13 13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. A. Relationship with God

Our ultimate source of contentment is our relationship with God through the Holy Spirit.

John 14:26 26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

B. Finding fulfillment in God's presence
Acts 2:4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit...”
The Holy Spirit brings joy, peace, and a deep sense of fulfillment that no material possession can compete with or provide.
III. The Journey to contentment
A. Gratitude and Thankfulness

1 Thessalonians 5:18 18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

B.******* Letting Go Of The Wordly Mindset And Philosphy and influence over you.
Romans 12:2
Renewing our minds with the word of God helps us shift our focus from materialism to God.
C. Trusting God's Providence- Joseph from prison to the palace.
Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in The Lord with all your heart....” Retirement, Future, Children.
True contentment comes from trust in God's plan, even when it's beyond our understanding.
IV. Sharing the message
A. being a witness of contentment
Others should see our contentment and ask about the source of our joy and peace.
1 Peter 3:15 “always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asked you to give the reason for the whole. That you have”.
B. Encouraging others
As Penecostal believers, we are called to share the message of contentment with others.
Acts 1:8 You will receive power with the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses....”
Conclusion True contentment is a gift from God through the Holy Spirit. It is a spiritual journey, not dependent on the material world.
As Pentecostal Christian, let us continually seek contentment through our relationship with God, Sharing this message of joy and peace with others.
May the Holy Spirit guide us on this beautiful journey of contentment and fulfillment.
contradict God, contrary, speak in opposition. fail to make contribututions when you are not content.
