We find the word Honor mentioned close to 200 times in the Bible
and as it concerns giving it is connected many times to the word Honor
- The Honorable honor The Honorable
Honor is always connected to action.
1 Samuel 9:6–8 NKJV
6 And he said to him, “Look now, there is in this city a man of God, and he is an honorable man; all that he says surely comes to pass. So let us go there; perhaps he can show us the way that we should go.” 7 Then Saul said to his servant, “But look, if we go, what shall we bring the man? For the bread in our vessels is all gone, and there is no present to bring to the man of God. What do we have?” 8 And the servant answered Saul again and said, “Look, I have here at hand one-fourth of a shekel of silver. I will give that to the man of God, to tell us our way.”
Here we see a way of thinking and an appropriate mindset as it concerns receiving a specific Word of God, a word that is going to help you
(Chapter 9)
15 Now the LORD had told Samuel in his ear the day before Saul came, saying,
16 “Tomorrow about this time I will send you a man from the land of Benjamin, and you shall anoint him commander over My people Israel, that he may save My people from the hand of the Philistines; for I have looked upon My people, because their cry has come to Me.”
Understand this, when you walk in life honorably God is working on your behalf, he working on that promotion
someone is anointed to help you and when you honor God, it sets things in motion
22 Now Samuel took Saul and his servant and brought them into the hall, and had them sit in the place of honor among those who were invited; there were about thirty persons
23 And Samuel said to the cook, Bring the portion which I gave you, of which I said to you, Set it aside.
24 And the cook lifted high the shoulder and what was on it [indicating that it was the priest’s honored portion] and set it before Saul. [Samuel] said, See what was reserved for you. Eat, for until the hour appointed it was kept for you, ever since I invited the people. So Saul ate that day with Samuel.
Now here we see Samuel Honoring Saul in multiple ways, having him seated in VIP, honor them with private chef
I also like how Samuel said “see what reserved for you?”
- realized that when you give with Honor things that are reserved are released!
So practically how do you honor God specially in your finances?
- Well think about all the places finances touch
do you honor God in your finances buying
- Tithe
- Give generously
Give when God tells you, I told God I’m a bank, you can deposit money and make withdrawals whenever you like.
So don’t start acting funny when God wants to withdrawal and give more towards that offering
Our supply is here, our supply is full, our supply is coming, angels bringing the finances and millions upon this congregation for this mighty wonderful work
