Text: Exodus 25:31-40, Exodus 37:17-24
Intro: In the description of the candlestick we have in what today would be known as an espaliered almond tree. We have all of the components of a tree, whose fruit is almonds. We have a main shaft which is the central focal point and out of that shaft come three branches. Three out of one side and three out of the other. Each branch is equipped at its top with a bowl on the top that is made after the fashion of an almond, a knop and a flower and then two additional bowls after the fashion of an almond, a knop and a flower making a total of three per branch. A knop by definition is: A knob; a tufted top, a bud, a bunch; a button. In the completed description of the golden candlestick, we see an almond tree that has been molded by the Husbandmen, that has all at the same time, budded, flowered and has brought forth fruit!
And Moses laid up the rods before the Lord in the tabernacle of witness. And it came to pass, that on the morrow Moses went into the tabernacle of witness; and, behold, the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi was budded, and brought forth buds, and bloomed blossoms, and yielded almonds.
Each branch was equipped with 3 knops, 3 flowers, and 3 almonds, making 9 items per branch. Meaning that either to the left or write of the central shaft there were 27 individual items. The central shaft had 4 knops, 4 flowers and 4 almonds making it to have 12 items. Taking only one side of the golden candlestick along with the central shaft you have a total of 39 items, leaving 27 items to the other side of the central shaft. A total of ______________ items. The word of God has ________________ books in total. _______________ making up the Old Testament and _______________ making up the New Testament!
And thou shalt make the seven lamps thereof: and they shall light the lamps thereof, that they may give light over against it.
Last week we made the definite tie between the oil and the _____________________ of God. When we give consideration to the _______________ lamps given to give light we are brought to another passage of Scripture.
And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices: and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.
Remember, the Tabernacle made here on earth was not the only Tabernacle, it was patterned after the Tabernacle in heaven.
And look that thou make them after their pattern, which was shewed thee in the mount.
The seven Spirits of God are not mysterious or incomprehensible. The Lord reveals them to us when we compare spiritual with spiritual! Read: Isaiah 11:1-2
Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
Each branch bears 9 items, which signifies the working of the Holy Spirit today. How many fruit of the Spirit are there? _______________
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Last week we also made the definite tie between the oil and a ____________________ anointing.
But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
Closing: The Golden Candlestick is about the Light Bearer and His Light! That Light today is testified through the working of the Spirit of God, the Spirit that indwells in all that are saved.
As a church, whenever we fail to exalt Him above all things. Whenever we fail to set Him forth as He is revealed by the Holy Scriptures in all of His pre-existent and eternal state, in His fulness of the Godhead bodily, in all of the perfection of His divine and sacrificial death, and in the triumph of His resurrection. Whenever we fail to hold up in view the preciousness of His shed blood as an offering for sins. Whenever we fail to declare clearly the finished work of the cross and salvation without human merit, but by the work of Christ alone. Then we have grown satisfied to operate without the anointing and power of His Spirit. We are no longer a golden candlestick that bears His light. We no longer bring glory to the One who died and rose again for us. It is then that our light is rightly and justly removed.
