Christ the Mediator
8:1 God was pleased, in His eternal purpose, to choose and ordain the Lord Jesus, His only begotten Son, according to the covenant made between them, to be the mediator between God and humanity. God chose Him to be prophet, priest and king, and to be head and savior of the church, the heir of all things, and judge of the world. From all eternity, God gave to the Son a people to be His offspring. In time these people would be redeemed, called, justified, sanctified and glorified by Him.
8:5 The Lord Jesus has fully satisfied the justice of God, obtained reconciliation, and purchased an everlasting inheritance in the kingdom of heaven for all those given to Him by the Father. SEARCH ME, O GOD, AND KNOW MY HEART; TEST ME AND KNOW MY ANXIOUS THOUGHTS. SEE IF THERE IS ANY OFFENSIVE WAY IN ME, AND LEAD ME IN THE WAY EVERLASTING. Psalm 139:23-24
Most holy and just God you alone are God there is no other. You are sovereign over all you have created. You have set apart a people that we might know and serve you in spirit and truth with pure hearts free from the bondage of sin, from duplicity and selfish desires motivated by an inappropriate love of self. ***
Yet despite your great mercies and kindness I have not obeyed you in every way. In the weakness of my flesh, the rebellion of my heart, in living according to my own selfish desires and not according to your most holy purpose. I have sinned against you. I confess my sin. -----
Almighty God it is utter foolishness and ruinous on my part to walk apart from your spirit and contrary to your purpose. Grant me the mercy of your forgiveness that I might be restored to your peace.
