Story of Joshua

King James Version Chapter 8

11 And all the people, even the people of war that were with him, went up, and drew nigh, and came before the city, and pitched on the north side of Ai: now there was a valley between them and Ai. 12 And he took about five thousand men, and set them to lie in ambush between Beth-el and Ai, on the west side of the city. 13 And when they had set the people, even all the host that was on the north of the city, and their liers in wait on the west of the city, Joshua went that night into the midst of the valley. 14 And it came to pass, when the king of Ai saw it, that they hasted and rose up early, and the men of the city went out against Israel to battle, he and all his people, at a time appointed, before the plain; but he wist not that there were liers in ambush against him behind the city

we have jumped into the middle of this amazing story about Joshua and his mighty army. first thing to understand before we takle this head on is who is joshua and why is God letting his people fight and take other kingdoms

Joshua

King James Version Chapter 1

NOW after the death of Moses the servant of the LORD it came to pass, that the LORD spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ minister, saying, 2 Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel. 3 Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.

right here we have some back ground to why Joshua has his own book he was a chosen by God. in verse 3 God says where ever your foot treads i will give you that land just as i promised Moses. in verse 10 our question about the wars with Israel are answered.

Then Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying, 11 Pass through the host, and command the people, saying, Prepare you victuals; for within three days ye shall pass over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land, which the LORD your God giveth you to possess it.

God gave Joshua the call to go take what was theres.

you ever have a sibling that took your personal property. than you go down to mom or dad or even grandma or grandpa , I would almost say its almost better when you get grandma on your side and you get them to give you permission to get what is yours back from that sister or brother and take back what was yours in the fist place. did you use some force that was not needed? you most likely did cause you wanted it your item back i mean its mine in the first place God would under stand.

basically thats what Joshua was doing with this army. God gave them a inheritance and they are coming back to get it

Joshua was commanded to do what they did to Jericho. what they did in Jericho was take everyone and burn the land for it was Gods will.

Joshua did just that they attacked all the people of AI 12 thousand people taken and killed all that remand was the king of AI and live stock. 12 thousand people Joshua knew of this but he did not bat a eye he knew what Gods will was and knew it would work in his favor.

I know as Pentecostals we are on fire for God and his words, but when we leave the four walls of the church we are scared of what people will think of us. scared of what people may think of me being a lover of jesus.

what i say to that is do those friends that you are trying to impress take up a wooden cross for you? did they get beat for you? did they get mocked by the whole country for you? no they did not but I know someone who took up your sins took up your worries your pains and died for them. his name is jesus christ. he saves me he protects me from this worlds this world is out for your mind.

have you seen a disney movie latley. its trash i cant watch it, its filling your mind with garbage. this world did not take up a cross for you so why should you praise it and be afraid of what they will say to you.

i don’t fear what the world thinks of me i fear what my creator thinks of me what does he think of me. am i good faithful servant unto him or does he not even know my name. We give the world the time of day when we click on that insta app but do we open the word of God to see what his thoughts are?

but the other side of this fear in tails with the fear of God, the lack of the fear of God

But the children of Israel committed a trespass in the accursed thing: for ||Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took of the accursed thing: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against the children of Israel

this man Stole from Jericho, he stole silver and gold. this man clearly did not have the fear of God in his life.

And they raised over him a great heap of stones unto this day. So the LORD turned from the fierceness of his anger. Wherefore the name of that place was called, The valley of Achor, unto this day.

they stone the man cause of his act. the wages of sin are death the wages of sin are death. now you maybe thinking that you are going to die casue you sinned. but wait we have it a lil easier than the Israelits. God died on that cross for us so you can go to him and ask for forgivness. i thank God for that im so glad that there is one God that hears me and answers my prayers of forgivness. don’t let your self get so caught up in just wanting to do your own wants and miss out of Gods mercy.

There is still a day of judgment where we will be accounted for. like i said don’t go by without God not knowing you. fear him fear what he could do dont wait for that blood to dry up and that mercy is gone. fear him fear him.

this goes hand and hand with the fear of not being accepted by the world. don’t get so caught up in these worldly wants. this man from the tribe of judah got consumed with money that he got stoned to death. don’t put your calling on the back burner for a quick Money bag. hear me tonight No amount of money could buy the calling God has placed on your life. do the will of God

And all the congregation murmured against the princes

the people of israel Kept there promies to God they may of not liked it it may of not been the popular vote in the meeting but it was the right one. Was the Israelits going down a bad path? its very possible But they Got ahold of the call of God and remembered that nun compares to it

there could have been a different out come to there lives but they chose Gods way.

now Who ever you are in these two categories fear of the world or not having the fear of God. there is time for you cast down your personal wants cast them down and make God the one that sits on the throne of your life. Whos opinion will make you go to heaven its Jesse's so let God have all your short comings all your worries and doubts. be consumed by him.

I am going to close with this. if the music could come. its my second year at IBC and Sis Gallion spoke about the great price the pearl and baisaclly in the bible a person solid everything for this pearl. God did the same thing he paid a price for us we were that pearl to him but any ways they had pearls on the stage scattered about. i was standing there and God spoke to me and said Simeon what are you willing to give for that pearl? people are depending on you to chose are you going to chose to show that pearl to people or are you going to hide it.

Oh God i am sorry for the things i have held back i am sorry God help me not to Hold on to what you have given me help me lord to give it back to others. people are depeding on you. are you going to show them what they need. are consummed with your own wants that Gods calling is going to pass you by?

come on preacher preach come on song writer write that song about the blood of God and how it saves. come on musican are you going to play for the lord or play for the hype of the world. you have a choice. let God be on the throne of your life let him have control.
