When someone does something special and above the call for us, we often send a Thank You card, a thank you gift - we find a way to acknowledge what someone has done for us.
I remember writing “Thank You” cards until my hands wanted to fall off & I ran out of unique ways of saying Thank You - for my graduations and our wedding.
So. Many. Thank You’s
A little girl was in a fight for her life on an operating table and needed a very specific type of blood O-. The facility did not have any blood of that type and there was none available within a radius that would have gotten there in time to save the little girl’s life. The little girl’s twin brother, however, was at the hospital and had type O- blood, a perfect match.
The doctor explained to the little boy that it was a matter of life and death for them to take his blood and give it to his sister. The little boy sat quietly for a few moments and then said goodbye to his parents before going with the doctor.
Thinking nothing of the goodbye, the doctor took the little boy and began to draw his blood for the transfusion. After drawing his blood, the little boy looked up at the doctor and asked, “So when will i die?” The little boy thought that he was giving his life for his sister’s.
In this fictional story:
Even though the little boy didn’t have to die in order to make sure his sister would live he was prepared to and had decided it was worth it to give his life for someone he loved to be able to live rather than die.
Did you know that there is someone who gave everything so that you could live, live abundantly & live eternally?
John 10:10 NKJV
The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
The thief, the devil steals, kills, & destroys in our life by encouraging us to sin.
Sin is simply knowing to do right but not doing it.
Romans 3:23 NKJV
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
Romans 6:23 NKJV
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Jesus came to save our life & eternity.
John 3:16–17 NKJV
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
There are some things that are so important that you do them yourself and don’t leave it to someone else.
Even the President will handle certain political meetings personally.
I’m so glad that Jesus didn’t leave our eternity to chance or to someone else - even to some angel.
Revelation 1:5a (NKJV)
To Him (Jesus) who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood,
John 15:13 NKJV
Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.
Jesus personally demonstrated the greatest love that could be demonstrated by laying down his own life for me & you.
So the question is, what kind of Thank You is warranted for this magnitude of gift and sacrifice?
Is there anything that could possibly be done or given that would be adequate thanks?
Receive the gift that was given
When we receive the gift, we receive the gift giver.
Revelation 3:20 NKJV
Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.
Jude 3 -The Message: The Bible in Contemporary Language
Dear friends, I’ve dropped everything to write you about this life of salvation that we have in common. I have to write insisting—begging!—that you fight with everything you have in you for this faith entrusted to us as a gift to guard and cherish.
2. Give back the most valuable thing you have in thanks
The most valuable thing that we have is not our time, talents, money, looks or possessions.
The most valuable thing that we have to give, in thanks, is our whole life.
Mark 8:35–37 NKJV
For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?
Romans 12:1 NKJV
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.

Just One Thing:

The greatest thanks we can give to Jesus is our life - Consider giving your whole life to Him today.
