This is our LAST lesson for fruit of the spirit. And this last one…y’all are not gonna like.
First off! What were all of the other fruits we learned about?
Exactly!
So....for the last fruit...
(place tree cookie front of each kid.)
You have one rule....do…not…touch!
Today, we are learning about self-control.
What is self-control?
Having the ability to say no to things that are not good for you and yes to the things that are. It means acting how God wants me to act rather than me acting how I want to.
For instance, when you look at this cookie, what do you think?
You want to eat that.
But I told you not to.
So if God told you not to eat something or to do something, would you do it anyway?
why or why not?
Self control is fighting temptation and choosing to follow what God wants.
How do we figure out what Gods will is for us?
We pray, read our Bible, talk to him and he will show you.
Did you know, that from the very beginning of time, the reason why we have sin in the world is because Adam and Eve, the first people ever to walk the earth did not listen to God and were tempted to eat from the tree of knowledge?
Before they ate the fruit, they had no sin. They were perfect. They were not mean, they could do whatever they wanted except eat the fruit from that tree. But what happened?
The evil one came to Eve and tempted her, made her question what God told them, and she listened to the devil and ate the fruit. And then gave it to Adam! So, then sin entered in them, and now for the rest of our lives here on earth we have fight against sin and have self control!
If Eve would have had self control and not listened to the devil, we would not have sin and we would all go to Heaven.
So, what do we need to do?
fight temptation, listen to what God says, and do what God says.
Verse - 2 Timothy 1:7 “
So, you can do it, because God gives us the strength and power to have self control! You may eat the cookie.
Now we play a game! (Jenga)
