Matthew 6:9–10 ESV
9 Pray then like this: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. 10 Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
It has been a while since we have looked at this series lets do a little bit of catch up
Jesus has just started his earthly ministry
this is the largest crowd he preaches to
last time we discussed how making Gods name Holy is important and we need to reverence
we also talk about how prayer requires us to approach God with recognizing out place
Our father

Your kingdom come

One implication of your kingdom come is the hope we have that God will come and make the world right in the end
Eschatological hope
Revelation 22:20 ESV
20 He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!
Christians for centuries pray this “come lord Jesus”
we pray this because God has promised in the end he will come and restore all things to himself
The lord of the rings: the sad things come untrue
Revelation 21:1–5 ESV
1 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. 2 And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. 4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” 5 And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Also he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”
Jesus story book bible
Now but not net
However this isn't just a final thing we want to see Jesus Kingdom here on this earth
by saying this we are asking permission to partner with Jesus is making the world better in this we are partaking in the work on the kingdom
feed the sick
clothe the orphan
caring for what is right
fighting the in justice that breaks gods heart
We are invited to be a part of What God is doing

Your will be done

going along with this
God has a will for the universe and the earth and ourselves
By saying Gods will be done we are taking a secondary approach we are saying that God what you want is more important then what I want
it is also trusting that the all knowing all loving God of the universe has a good plan for your life.
When we say your will be done we are saying God be glorified in me, my family, work school, life city country and world

On earth as as it is in heaven

on earth as it is in heaven is a call that we may see the world as God does. It is asking God to work through us as if the earth was heaven
i far often hear believers wanting so desperately focussing on the end goal of getting heaven however this means we forget the ultimate goal of bringing heaven down
the goal of a christian is not to get to heaven but to see heaven on earth
when we begin with a posture of saying God you are holy and let your will be done in our lives our prays are put into proper perspective.
In heaven Gods name is being hallowed
Revelation 4:8–9 ESV
8 And the four living creatures, each of them with six wings, are full of eyes all around and within, and day and night they never cease to say, “Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!” 9 And whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to him who is seated on the throne, who lives forever and ever,

Conclusion:

we should be praying like this
our-desire should be to make Gods name holy as it is in heaven
we should desire for all the injustice and sadness to go away
and we should desire for Gods will do be done as much here as it is in heaven
