HAVE YOU LOST YOUR MIND? / A CHIP OFF OF THE OLD BLOCK:
Key Text: Matt 6:9 [After this manner] therefore pray ye: Our Father, which art in heaven,, Hallowed be thy name. 10 Thy kingdom, come. Thy will, be done in earth,, as it is in heaven.
.1 A hint of what the Godhead has done and what Jesus knew He would have to redo that His Father’s will would be done!
.2 THE LORD’S PRAYER
.3 A whole discourse in teaching how we are too earthly pray but the preamble is the most important part.
.4 If you describe someone as a chip off the old block, you mean that they are just like one of their parents in character or behaviour., someone who resembles their parent in character or appearance. Counterpart.. Someone who resembles their parent.
.5 Sanderson's Sermon in 1637: “Am not I a child of the same Adam … a chip of the same block, with him?” At this time the phrase referred to any two people who came from the same familial line.
.6 image (something cut out)
Gen 1:26 Then God said, “Let us make humans in our image, in our likeness. Let them rule the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the domestic animals all over the earth, and all the animals that crawl on the earth. 27 So God created humans in his image. In the image of God he created them. He created them male and female.
.7 THE GREAT CONCEPTION, PROCESS - the exchange between God and mankind of spiritual DNA. There was joy, thrill, and pleasure in this intimate connection.
Gen 2:21-24 So the Lord God caused him to fall into a deep sleep. While the man was sleeping, the Lord God took out one of his ribs. He closed up the opening that was in his side. 22Then the Lord God made a woman. He made her from the rib he had taken out of the man. And he brought her to him. 23The man said, “Her bones have come from my bones. Her body has come from my body. She will be named ‘woman,’
because she was taken out of a man.” 24That’s why a man will leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife. The two of them will become one. NIrV
.8 Man and Woman – one flesh, one bone, one blood
.9 [baby and mother sharing DNA] [Jay and Jesse]
When pregnant, the cells of the baby migrate into the mother’s bloodstream and then circle back into the baby, it’s called “fetal-maternal microchimerism”.
For 41 weeks, the cells circulate and merge backwards and forwards, and after the baby is born, many of these cells stay in the mother’s body, leaving a permanent imprint in the mother’s tissues, bones, brain, and skin, and often stay there for decades. Every single child a mother has afterwards will leave a similar imprint on her body, too.
This is often why certain illnesses vanish while pregnant.
It’s incredible how mother’s bodies protect the baby at all costs, and the baby protects & rebuilds the mother back - so that the baby can develop safely and survive.
Studies have also shown cells from a fetus in a mother’s brain 18 years after she gave birth. How amazing is that?”
If you’re a mom you know how you can intuitively feel your child even when they are not there….Well, now there is scientific proof that moms carry them for years and years even after they have given birth to them.
*DISRUPTION
Gen 3:8 Then the man and his wife heard the LORD God walking in the garden. It was the coolest time of the day. They hid from the LORD God among the trees of the garden. [Tragedy – lost communication]
Matt 6:10 May your kingdom come. May what you want to happen be done on earth as it is done in heaven. INrV see subject on image of God – the sharing of the mind in RC 90 and 91 in highlight
1. Jesus set the priority of prayer. Our submission to His Father’s will.
2. He is having us to restore the bases of “Let us make man in our image”. Then God said, “Let us make man in our likeness. INrV
“Now let us make beings who look like us and can reflect our thinking and our personality.” TCW Here Satan wanted mankind to get as far away as possible from being in the image of God, so he has mankind to create images after everything in nature. Thus, the command not to have no other gods in the Ten Commandments
3. By His Word were we created and His Word is His will and all creatures are under His will.
4. Our will was to abide by His will. This was God’s original plan of communication.
5. Everything was under His direction and order.
6. Angels abide under His direction and exist by His will.
Ps. 103:20 Praise the Lord, you angels of his. Praise him, you strong and mighty angels who carry out his orders and obey his word.
a. Can you imagine what heaven would be like if angels did their mind to do their own will?
b.
7. Lucifer was evicted from his heavenly home because he rebelled against God’s will.
a. Iniquity in his mind
b. The heart is deceitful
c. Gen 6:5 God saw the growing wickedness among the people. All day long they thought of nothing but sinning. He was sick at heart over His creation. He had made man in His own image but now man was acting more like Satan. TCW
d. The antediluvians have lost their minds!
8. TEXT? As it was in the days of Noah so shall it be at the coming of the Lord Imagination
During his time of “probation” in the garden, Adam had the ability to sin and the ability not to sin. Adam had possessed both the ability to sin (posse pecarre) and the ability not to sin (posse non-pecarre).
Adam lacked the exalted state of the inability to sin that God enjoys (non-posse pecarre) and the ability not to sin (posse non-pecarre). God’s inability to sin is based not on an inner powerlessness of God to do what he wants, but rather on the fact that God has no inner desire to sin.
In Adam's original sin, man lost the posse non peccare (the power not to sin) and retained the posse peccare (the power to sin)--which he continues to exercise. In his fallen state the plight of man is found in his inability to keep from sinning. Man is still free to choose; but if left to himself, man will never choose righteousness, precisely because he does not desire it. What fallen man lacks is the moral disposition, the desire, or the inclination of righteousness.
Stated simply, man still has the ability to choose what he wants but lacks the desire for true righteousness. He is naturally free, but morally enslaved to his own corrupt and wicked desires.
Job 22:21 “Acquaint now thyself with Him and be at peace: There by good shall come unto thee.” KJV “Job, make peace with God. Get better acquainted with Him and you’ll find that He will bless you as never before.” TCW Everyone needs to have a personal experience in obtaining a knowledge of the will of God!
Phil 2:13 God is working in you. He wants your plans and your acts to be in keeping with his good purpose. NIV By his death Jesus effects the saving will of God.
Lk 22:42 42 “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.”
Christ’s prayer to His Father concerning Their will
Nahum 1:9 “Affliction shall not arise the second time” [Nineveh]
“Whatever man does to plot against the Lord, the Lord will bring to an end. Sin with its arrogance and rebellion will not arise a second time.” TCW
Rom 5:12 Because of Adam’s sin, a sinful nature was passed on to everyone in the world. [We are A chip off of the old block] From then on, sin has controlled everyone.
a. It has affected everyone.
b. Rom 5:15 God’s gift is different from Adam’s sin. Many people died because of the sin of that one man. But it was even more sure that God’s grace would also come through one man. That man is Jesus Christ. God’s gift of grace was more than enough for the whole world. NIrV
c. The Middle East – Abraham -
Rom 3:23 all have sinned and come short of the glory of God
SO, any sin is not an oopsie or for it to be called mistake. A mistake is already pre possed. (not speaking of accidents)
*****Jesus came to restore/arrest the will of man
He can read our minds John 17:20-26
Jesus Blood! *** Bone marrow
Light was the symbol of enlightenment as it is today.
2Pet 3:10-14
Rev 22:14 Blessed are those who have washed their robes in my blood and kept my commandments. This is what gives them the right to the Tree of Life and enter through the gates into the city. TCW
Matt 7:21 21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’ 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’[1]
IT WILL BE TOO LATE TO TRY TO FIX IT AT THE JUDGEMENT STATEMENT!!!!! We are at the DOOR of the end of time!!!! JESUS is that DOOR! ***The appeal of Jesus: He declares, “I have kept my Father’s commandments.” How? As a man. “Lo, I come to do Thy will, O God.” To the accusations of the Jews He stood forth in His pur, virtuous, holy character and challenged them, “Which of you convinceth me of sin.”
CONCLUSION: When He Cones Again – to gather His sheep
almost universally conceded that in dealing with mankind, we are dealing with a fallen race. Augustine located the depths of man’s fallenness in his loss of original powers of righteousness. No longer does man have the posse non-pecarre. In his fallen state the plight of man is found in his inability to keep from sinning (non-posse, non-pecarre). In the Fall, something profoundly vital to moral freedom was lost.
