Understanding and Practicing the Heart of Evangelism
Understanding and Practicing the Heart of Evangelism
Colossians 3:1–4 (NIV)
Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.
Colossians 4:2–6 (NIV)
Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should. Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.
Introduction
Introduction
Evangelism can be complicated and intimidating for many people.
This complexity often stems from misconceptions about its practice and results.
It's essential to distinguish between the act of evangelism and its outcomes to approach it with the right perspective.
What is Evangelism?
What is Evangelism?
Evangelism is the proclamation of the gospel, the good news of Jesus Christ, which has the power to save all who believe in Him.
It involves the practice of speaking , sharing and living , about who Jesus is, bringing Him into everyday conversations.
The focus should be on sharing, not just on measurable outcomes such as conversions and baptisms.
The primary goal of evangelism is to bring individuals into a transformative relationship with Jesus Christ, emphasizing salvation, forgiveness, and the hope found in Christian teachings.
The Misconception
The Misconception
be comfortable in Sharing about Jesus.
We mistake the practice of evangelism with the success of evangelism.
we can mistake with the number of conversions and baptism.
Rather than just sharing about Jesus and leaving the fruits to the Holy Spirit to God.
it's not about numbers.
we want to see many people come to Jesus and be baptized.
When we mistake the practice with its fruit, we can actually scare people away.
Because if People are not seeing fruit, that it's not being effective then people might not want it at all.
Evangelism is simply the gift and the opportunity, the practice of sharing about who Jesus is and leaving the fruits in the hands of God.
the reality of the what scriptures teaches us is salvation of the Lord is really good news because it takes off the pressure of us.
