Do not add to the gospel

The text we skipped over...

Letter of the verdict was written and distributed
Paul and Barnabas split up
God works great things in spite of our faults and squabbles
(Mark references in Col 4:10; 2 Timothy 4:11)
2 Timothy 4:11 ESV
11 Luke alone is with me. Get Mark and bring him with you, for he is very useful to me for ministry.

Body

Paul and Timothy (v.1-5)

Circumcises Timothy

Basically did this so that Timothy could better minister to the Jews
Being half-jewish and uncircumcised he would have been seen as an apostate.

Who is your Paul?

Who are you being mentored or discipled by?

Who is your Timothy?

Who are your mentoring or discipling?

Calling (v.6-10)

God gives you a desire to do it
Gifting
God gifts you to do what he has called you to do.
Where God calls, he also enables
He will give the ability and the character to do what he is calling you to do
Opportunity
God will give you the opportunity to do it
Testimony of others
The Word of God
God will never call you to do something that contradicts his word

God opens ears, minds, and hearts (v.11-15)

“The Lord opened her heart” (v.14)

Christ is the only one who can open anyones heart
We cannot change hearts but God does
Your job is to pray, share the truth, then pray some more
God will work His will in the person and sort them out according to His purpose.

Conclusion

Who is your Timothy? Who is your Paul? (v.1-5)
Where is God calling you to serve? (v.6-10)
God opens ears, minds, and hearts (v.11-15)
