FORGIVENESS

Colossians 3:12-13
Colossians 3:12–13 (NLT)
12 Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. 13 Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.
Why we need to forgive:
We could say that God said it so you have to do it. But we worship the God forgiveness and second chances. Lets stop and think about all of the interesting things we have done throughout our life. (Focus on sinning)
God forgave us for everyone one of those sins. when we accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Psalm 65:3
Psalm 65:3 (NLT)
3 Though we are overwhelmed by our sins, you forgive them all.
Even tho you and I are pieces of consistently sinning trash, doesn’t matter who we are, does it. all sin is trash and for sure the Lord is not feeling it when we get stupid? Romans 3:23
Romans 3:23
23 For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.
I realize what you must must be thinking, come on man, we have to forgive any and every person that throws us shade? That answer is big YEP!
If you are thinking that isn’t right. Personally I struggle with this too. People getting away with trash left and right, talking down to everyone consistently. They do not care about your or anyone else’s feelings,
YES, we need to forgive them for what they have done to us, and yes that may seem, “that’s not right!l. Again I say to you again Yeah Buddy!
You probably think it would be nice to know, why do I need to nice to that (choose your favorite phrase)!
The Lord says :
Matthew 6:13–14 (NLT)
13 And don’t let us yield to temptation, but rescue us from the evil one. 14 “If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you.
That is a pretty to the point with the message! The Lord says in as we read before Colossians 3:13
Colossians 3:13
13 Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.
We need to remember that not all people are believers, they do not know what we know. Even on days even the most hardcore believer can have a bad day. The difference between a true follower of Christ (think John 14:6).
John 14:6
6 Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.
But you and I both say, that’s cool, I get it, we mess up every once in awhile, I get it, they deserve a “Pass”. But we all think what about when for the 8th time these fools continue to grind on our nerves and their very existence drives me to the point of a felony.
Surely the Lord will be cool like that and let me rebuke them (tell them what I think). Nah, nope, not this time, because the Lord says: Matthew 18:21-22
Matthew 18:21–22 (NLT)
21 Then Peter came to him and asked, “Lord, how often should I forgive someone who sins against me? Seven times?” 22 “No, not seven times,” Jesus replied, “but seventy times seven!
If you are shocked so was I when I first read it, I was like WOW! that many times… 490 times, man that's a heavy lift! For sure! That us point of the exercise that we are to, Trust in the Lord.
You and I gotta be thinking to ourselves there is no fricking way we can do this, well I am hear to tell yea!, Yeah you can! And I am hear to tell you how.
