It’s such a blessing to take Him at His Word, amen?
But in our life, we know that there are two voices at work. We can either be people who listen to God’s Word, or people who listen to the accusations of the enemy.
And so there’s this struggle in the Christian life over what kind of story we’re living in. And the enemy wants nothing more than to tear us down, to discourage us. He comes to lie to us, and through His lies to steal, kill, and destroy. How can we overcome?
The answer comes to us in the book of Revelation, chapter 12, from a loud voice booming in heaven:
Revelation 12:10–11 (NIV)
Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say:
“Now have come the salvation and the power
and the kingdom of our God,
and the authority of his Messiah.
For the accuser of our brothers and sisters,
who accuses them before our God day and night,
has been hurled down.
They triumphed over him
by the blood of the Lamb
and by the word of their testimony…
We will overcome first because Jesus overcame. But we overcome not just by the blood of the lamb, but also by the word of our testimony! This is a profound truth: God wants to use our story, the story about how we have been redeemed by the shed blood of Jesus Christ, to destroy the foothold and the lies of the accuser in our lives and in this world.
So, who will speak? Who will tell this story? It’s not about what we’ve done in our own strength, rather it’s all about the power of the blood of Jesus rewriting our past and giving us hope and a future.
And so that is going to be our theme tonight. We’re going to spend time responding in worship to God for who He is and what He’s done. He’s the God of our salvation, and He’s the God who has turned my brokenness into a mosaic that points to His glory. So, “Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story!”
And the first story that we’re going to hear is from one of my dear brothers, Mike Perritt.
