The Spirit Of Christian Love

the Romans 13:1 Let brotherly love continue. 2 Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. 3 Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body.

To begin brothers and sisters, Christian Friends, Well Wishers and Saints of God it is indeed an honor as well as a great prestigious privilege to speak on The Spirit of Christian Love. As we have endured for 155 years, thrived and survived through post slavery, the great depression, reconstruction, Jim Crow, the civil rights movement, gentrification, the baby boom era, Generation X, Gen Y, Gen Z, and now Gen Alpha.

And the Pilgrim BC is still standing. and the church said Amen. We been through the storms and the rains. We been through a change of the guards and we now have a new board and a new pastor and we’re walking into our new future. And the church said Amen. Church I see a bright future for the Pilgrim BC. And what I see is that the Pilgrim BC is a place where we love God, we love one another, and we serve the needs of our community to the Glory of God. Is that alright ?

I heard a compliment from an outsider. I heard that you got a good group of men to work with, and they are there for the right thing,They are there for God and the church and they love their pastor. I’d like to teach, talk and tell us about Loving God.Loving one another,loving your pastor and loving our church.

1. The text says in Hebrews 13:1 Let brotherly Love continue. There are some beforehand stuff and some afterwards stuff happening here. There are some antecedents and some precedents happening here. In other words the writer is speaking candidly to us telling us that the doctrine is only a demonstration of the behavior that could have would and should have taken place. I can’t walk us through the whole book of Hebrews for you to get the message, but I can give us a cheat sheet to most of the important facts and features that drive the Phrase Let brotherly Love continue.

1. The book of Hebrews is said to be written by Paul but some scholars say it was actually written by Apollos. It’s still up for debate.

2. The book of Hebrews gives us a picture that reaches far beyond Genesis or birth of the “Hebrew Christian Movement.” The HCM consisted of Jews who converted to Christianity . The HCM worshipped in congregation separate from the traditional denominational Jewish Church. But! The HCM retained and maintained some of the Jewish practices and liturgy and order of service features in their worship service. And what made the HCM different from their Jewish counterpart was that they read from the New Testament scripture that was being forged and formed by the Holy Spirit through the Apostles. What you mean Doc Allen? Can I teach a little bit ? Well the HCM is not just reading from Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers,Deuteronomy, Joshua, Judges, Ruth, I,II, Samuel, I,II Kings, I,II Chronicles,Ezra,Nehemiah, Esther, Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Solomon, Isaiah,Jeremiah Lamentations,Ezekiel,Daniel, Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, and Malachi.

Now they are reading from Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts, Romans, I,II Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians,Colossians, I,II Thessalonians, I,II Timothy Titus Philemon, Hebrews, James, I,II Peter,I,II,III John, Jude and Revelation. In other words when we celebrate our 155 years of being a Christian Church that lifts up the name of Jesus we need to know why HEBREWS 13:1 says Let brotherly Love continue, where did this come from, and why is it so important?

3. We can’t Let Brotherly Love continue without having a Genuine Love for God. The bible teaches us that if you want success in your life You have to Love God. Ask David about it. David messed up a lot of different ways yet the bible says that David remained the apple of God’s eye. But Why ? But how? I’ll tell you why because all throughout scripture it teaches us that “!David Loved! God!” He was NOT perfect but he Loved God. Listen I’d rather Love God more than knowing of the great doctrines of the bible. Because,,, if I love God, then He’ll look past my faults and see about my every need because He knows I love Him. I love him 3x I love the Lord because he hear my cry and pitied my every groan and long as I live I’ll hasten on to my God’s throne. Don’t be looking down on nobody thinking that you’re more holy than they are. You’ll remember when Jesus was in the temple and the Pharisee and the publican both were in the temple. The publican put his head down to his chest and kept saying Lord have Mercy. Then the Pharisee with his over piouistic self centered ways say I’m so glad I’m not like this publican He this he that he’s the other and Jesus said that the Publican went down more justified that the self righteous Pharisee. Jesus was thee best thing that ever happened to an old bum like me. And the church said Amen.

3. Let Brotherly Love continue. Then the bible would have us to know that How can you say that you love God whom you’ve never seen and hate your brothers and your sisters that you see everyday. I love everybody in here. And you can’t make me hate you and be out of the will of God. I’m just not going to do it. God sent me here to Love You.

4. Continue Wait nah The text says Let Brotherly Love Continue. Continue 3x Continue to exhibit the fruits of the Spirit. Continue to have Love joy peace longsuffering gentleness goodness faith meekness and temperance.

Continue to walk in the spirit so we won’t live in the flesh. Continue means don’t be weary in well doing for ye shall reap if ye faint not. Continue to have faith in God that He’ll see you through your trials and your tribulations. In fact Jesus said just Faith the size of a mustard seed can move all of the obstacles out of your way.

Continue to be equipped for spiritual warfare because the bible says put on the whole armour of God that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil 12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: 18 Then Paul says Continue “ Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.” Meaning for 155 years we started something good so don’t stop now.

Tell your neighbor: Don’t Stop Now.

Continue to humble your selves under the Mighty Hand of God and He will exhalt you in due season.

Continue to bear one another’s burden because it might be my trouble today but your trouble is right around the corner. I’m trying to help the church.

Continue to let your light so shine that men will see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven.People got to be able to see that the membership at Pilgrim love God and Love each other and love their pastor.

Continue keeping the peace in this great church because God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.

Continue to present your holy before God because the bible says I beseech you therefore brethren by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice holy acceptable unto God which is your reasonable service. and be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind that ye might prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Continue making sure that all of God’s house and preacher and ministries are taken care of. And how do you do that? the bible says bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith saith the LORD of Hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. And That’s called Abundant Blessings.

Continue saying what Paul said, For Christ I live and for Christ I’m willing to die because I’m not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ for it is the power of God unto salvation.

Last one Continue to follow Jesus’ Great Commission to the Church. “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, Jesus said and lo I’ll be with you always even unto the end of the world. Amen

And the church said Amen.

All of this New Testament Doctrine Sums up to be one word “Better.” I don’t what words or deeds the devil try to fool Pilgrim BC with, This church is Better off than it was before. I know it I can see it. I can feel it. I experience it every Sunday. And I’m not a visitor coming for one Sunday and shout the church out then go back to where I came from. No No No I’m like Nehemiah and Ezra I’m here on assignment. I’m here to stand on the wall and not come down. Tricks and traps may come from the enemy but I’m here for the long haul. And I’m proud to be a part of such a great history culture and legacy. I lot of great preachers pastors teachers and leaders came before me. And I’m grateful for their service to the body of Christ. That’s why verse 2 of Hebrews 13:2 says 2 Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. I’m through but have you ever considered that sometimes God sends angels down to us and for us. Do you think that sometimes the Holy Spirit talks to you and tell you stuff to say to somebody else that blow their mind that you knew what to say to them right at the precise moment. I was walking in the BRG Hospital going to pray for Brother Stevenson and I saw a young woman and I said Don’t be sad God is going to work everything out. I went on and prayed for Brother Stevenson and right when I passed the cafeteria I saw the young woman again. And she said Pastor the Doctor just said that my Paw Paw is going to make it. I said look at God. 3x. I got back in my car. and I said Lord you did it again. Sometimes God sends angels to minister just to you just because you need it just because that’s the kind of God we serve Oh what a mighty God we serve. I can’t tell it all but starting next Sunday if the Lord be willing we’re going to start the Christmas Narrative. The Christmas stories are filled with appearances of angels entertaining us at the strangest times in the strangest situations for the greatest reason in mankind’s history.

This is where Jesus reincarnates and God the Father gives Him a baby’s body, Gives Him 33 years, Gives Him 10,000 blessings in His hands just to satisfy the poor. Gives Him the Mission to be the Propitiation for the sins on mankind.

Lead Him on up to Calvary’s hill um um they strecthed Him wide and hung Him up High and the bible says He died 3x. Oh Lordy But three days later Early 3x, Sunday Morning He got up with All Power in His Hands. He’s got Power to keep Pilgrim strong. He’s got Power to fix our lives. He’s got Power to help us love one another. He’s got Power to look pass our faults and see about our every need. He’s got Power to put food on our tables clothes on our back a roof over our heads a car to get around money to pay our bills and then Joy in our heart while we praise His Holy and Righteous Name. Jesus Anybody here know Him . Ain’t He Alright? The More I call Him thee Better I feel 3x. Hey hey hey Jesus.
