Failure of Possession

Proud of our Team:
Pastor Jordan
Recap:
The name of Jesus
We get the name Jesus from the greek pronunciation EE-Ya-zues
Yeshua an iteration of the name Yehoshua
The blood of Jesus is what saves us
Through the blood of Jesus we obtain Salvation
Today we’re going to talk about Salvation:
Who is salvation for?
2 Peter 3:9 NKJV
9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.
God’s plan for salvation is that everyone would be saved:
John 3:16-17 whosoever, not to condemn the world
It’s for all
We understand that it’s through His blood
How do we obtain it?
Romans 10:9–10 NKJV
9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Romans 10:13 NKJV
13 For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Paul is quoting back to the prophet Joel here very interesting detail here:
Paul is acknowledging Jesus at Yahweh or the I am here
Something that before his road to Damascus experience he killed people for
Joel 2:32 NKJV
32 And it shall come to pass That whoever calls on the name of the Lord Shall be saved. For in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be deliverance, As the Lord has said, Among the remnant whom the Lord calls.
Shall be saved:
John 3:3–6 NKJV
3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” 4 Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” 5 Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
Our Spirit is born again and we are saved
What’s included in Saved?
The Greek work Sozo:
1. To preserve or rescue fr. natural dangers and afflictions, save, keep from harm, preserve, rescue
2. Save from death
3. Bring out safely
4. Keep preserve (in good condition)
5. Save free from disease
6. Thrive prosper, get well on
.
Nothing about the work of Jesus was to stave us off until the end when we finally make it to the sweet by and by
He told us to pray heaven down to earth
Luke 4:16–22 NKJV
16 So He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read. 17 And He was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written: 18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed; 19 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.” 20 Then He closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all who were in the synagogue were fixed on Him. 21 And He began to say to them, “Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.” 22 So all bore witness to Him, and marveled at the gracious words which proceeded out of His mouth. And they said, “Is this not Joseph’s son?”
This is all offered to us at salvation
Romans 8:11 NKJV
11 But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.
It’s not a weaker Spirit that died with the apostles:
Does this scripture sound like we have a lesser, weaker, not for today Spirit?
The enemy is the father of lies or the great deceiver
He would love nothing more than to confuse you about your salvation
Tell you there’s parts where you can’t access
That you sinned to you can’t access that part of salvation
It says the enemy is the accuser of the brethren
That that stuff isn’t for today
What even worse about all this is that we LISTEN
The old testament is type and shadows of things to come in the new testament:
Yehoshua
Yeshua
Joshua lead the Israelites into the promised land
Moses took them to the brink of the promised land and was not permitted to enter the promised land
Joshua a Caleb spying out the land
Numbers 13 the Valley of Eshkol (Cluster)
They spy out the promised land
The one God told them to take
The one that God gave them!
Come back with grapes that two men have to carry on a pole between them
12 men go in what happened?
Only Joshua and Caleb were able to enter into the promised land out of that group
Numbers 13:27–30 NKJV
27 Then they told him, and said: “We went to the land where you sent us. It truly flows with milk and honey, and this is its fruit. 28 Nevertheless the people who dwell in the land are strong; the cities are fortified and very large; moreover we saw the descendants of Anak there. 29 The Amalekites dwell in the land of the South; the Hittites, the Jebusites, and the Amorites dwell in the mountains; and the Canaanites dwell by the sea and along the banks of the Jordan.” 30 Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses, and said, “Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it.”
Caleb Bible says was a man of different Spirit
Joshua was a man that received a spirit of wisdom when Moses laid his hands on Him
Numbers 13:31–33 NKJV
31 But the men who had gone up with him said, “We are not able to go up against the people, for they are stronger than we.” 32 And they gave the children of Israel a bad report of the land which they had spied out, saying, “The land through which we have gone as spies is a land that devours its inhabitants, and all the people whom we saw in it are men of great stature. 33 There we saw the giants (the descendants of Anak came from the giants); and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight.”
Band:
Grasshopper mindset:
Their mindset set them apart from everyone else around them
It wasn’t the giants in the land that was keeping themselves out of the promised land it was the grasshoppers in their eyes
They looked at the circumstances rather than look at the promise that God set before them
Cricket in our house
God wants to deliver you out of bondage and out of Egypt:
But you can stay in the wilderness if you’re not careful
Or you can heaven here on earth
But who do you say that Jesus is
Do you truly believe the promises of God for your life?
We’ve been redeemed from the curse of this world through the blood of Jesus
1 Corinthians 7:23 NKJV
23 You were bought at a price; do not become slaves of men.
Don’t go back in bondage
I chose to go back into bondage
The things God saved me from I tried to carry with me through the cross
The enemy wants you to get comfortable with his occupancy in your promised land:
Gibeonites (25 miles)
Joshua 9:15 (NKJV)
15 So Joshua made peace with them, and made a covenant with them to let them live; and the rulers of the congregation swore to them.
Our promise land is full of work and fight:
We have to keep the enemy from setting up camp in our minds
In our homes
The enemy wants to steal it from you
John 10:10 NKJV
10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
LIFE-Zoe-Zao:
Zoe: of the absolute fulness of life, both essential and ethical, which belongs to God, and through him both to the hypostatic "logos" and to Christ in whom the "logos" put on human nature
Zao: to live, breathe, be among the living (not lifeless, not dead)
to enjoy real life
to have true life and worthy of the name
active, blessed, endless in the kingdom of God
to live i.e. pass life, in the manner of the living and acting
of mortals or character
living water, having vital power in itself and exerting the same upon the soul
God is offering you salvation today
What are you in bondage to?
What have you given up in your life that you need to take back from the enemy
What has he stolen from you?
