Text: Matthew 25:1-13.

Vs 1

About the kingdom of heaven
Takes place during a wedding procession
The Jewish wedding was a long event. the morning was filled with dancing, then the groom would walk with his friends to the brides house. they would have a ceremony there, then the wedding procession would take place, with more singing and dancing, on the way to the grooms house. there they would have the proper wedding and a feast directly after the ceremony. so, the wedding procession would take place at night
those in the parable are the virgins, or bridesmaids. they were to wait with oil lamps till the procession would arrive

Vs 2-4

vs 3, the foolish
they would have lamps with oil to light the night
they only had the oil that was already in the lamp
vs 4, the wise
not know how long it would take, they brought extra
