1 Timothy 4:4–5 ESV
4 For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, 5 for it is made holy by the word of God and prayer.
We have many things to be thankful for this season. The reason we can be thankful for the things we have received are because these things are given from God and affirmed through His word!
Deuteronomy 32:4 ESV
4 “The Rock, his work is perfect, for all his ways are justice. A God of faithfulness and without iniquity, just and upright is he.
Before we eat, I wanted to list a few things our family can be thankful for that we have received throughout this last year...
The marriage of Kaitlyn and Matt.
Kaitlyn and Matt, you both are characters in a story of redemption. It has been one of 2023’s biggest blessings to see you both walk humbly before the Lord- together. Matt, you have been a joy to our family. Brooks is another touch of grace in all of this! It was an absolute honor to do your wedding. I received that with thankfulness.
Genesis 2:18 ESV
18 Then the Lord God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.”
Hannah’s answered prayers regarding her job.
Hannah, you have reminded us regularly how faithful the Lord is to provide for His children. No one can deny this based on the way the Lord has provided financially and through various opportunities to bring stability to your life. Plus, if any of the king children are cut out for the corporate world- it’s you. You received those pay raises and job opportunities with thankfulness… and so do we!
Philippians 4:19 ESV
19 And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
The institution of Chic Fil A.
Thanks to dad’s ability to be a wizard on a computer and mom’s gift in hospitality and service, chic fil a has recruited some of Southwest Georgia’s finest to do a good work. Although work is sometimes “just work,” it has allowed you guys to continue moving forward with a roof over your heads and even a new 4x4 for dad… Shoutout to CFA! We receive that, once a week at least, with thankfulness.
Deuteronomy 8:3 ESV
3 And he humbled you and let you hunger and fed you with manna, which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, that he might make you know that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.
Our newest, soon to be, member of the family- Ann Collins King.
Ann Collins was a surprise we had prayed for. A lot of people don’t know this, but we tried for a while… After a bit of a break from the pressure, we handed it over completely to the Lord through prayer. Within weeks, we were blessed with an amazing gift, a daughter. We will all receive her with thankfulness in January!
Psalm 127:3 ESV
3 Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward.
Danny Sullins...
Brother, welcome to the table. Hannah is blessed to know you, have you, and be known by you. We could not be more excited for the both of you. Danny, were prayed for and will be prayed for now by us forever. You are family. Embrace it, even if it gets weird sometimes… Just ask Matt. We all receive you with thankfulness!
Ecclesiastes 4:9–10 ESV
9 Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. 10 For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up!
Lastly… I want to end with this Psalm as we give thanks to the Lord.
Psalm 111 ESV
1 Praise the Lord! I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart, in the company of the upright, in the congregation. 2 Great are the works of the Lord, studied by all who delight in them. 3 Full of splendor and majesty is his work, and his righteousness endures forever. 4 He has caused his wondrous works to be remembered; the Lord is gracious and merciful. 5 He provides food for those who fear him; he remembers his covenant forever. 6 He has shown his people the power of his works, in giving them the inheritance of the nations. 7 The works of his hands are faithful and just; all his precepts are trustworthy; 8 they are established forever and ever, to be performed with faithfulness and uprightness. 9 He sent redemption to his people; he has commanded his covenant forever. Holy and awesome is his name! 10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures forever!
Let’s pray.
