Genesis-II (Chapters 12–50) (King James Version) (G. Jacob Sought Reconciliation with Esau (Part 2): The Major Step to Reconciliation—Prevailing Prayer, 32:22–32)
1 (32:22–24) Solitude—Prayer: Jacob got alone to pray. Jacob had apparently gone to bed but was unable to sleep because of the great fear and distress he was feeling. He was desperate, feeling gripped by fear and distress. It was almost unbearable. As stated in the introduction, he knew there was only one person who could help him: God. He knew that he had to be alone to seek God’s face for strength and help. So Jacob got up and sent his family and all his possessions on across the ford of the river Jabbok. But he remained behind, all alone, without any distractions or demands from family or workers. Everything was now still, quiet, hushed. Jacob stood there all alone under the stars of the night. No one was present except Jacob and God.
