The Alpha and Omega

The Aleph bet

Revelation 1:9–11 (KJV 1900)

I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.

10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet,

11 Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.

John was determined to preach the gospel of Christ. And though Rome had taken him out of the population they could not stopped his voice.For while he was behind bars and he continued to preach.

He would speak about his risen saviour and king.

He would talk about the kingdom that was coming.

This angered Ceaser, so they sent him to the island of Patmos.

Patmos could not exist today because it was a place of extreme elements and punishment.

If extreme elements didn’t kill you the other prisoners would.

Rome had sent him there to die and to be rid of him!

Here in Florida there is a prison right on Sr 470 and many times as I pass that prison going to or from one of my sons homes. I often wonder how much of the word of god they hear in that place.

If John was their I’ll bet they would get an earful weather they wanted to hear it or not.

Anyway Rome had sent john there to die!

John records ; He was in the spirit on the lords day!

Even in this island that no one wanted to be at or in or even visit.

There we find john In the spirit.worshiping and praising God with all his heart.

As he is worshiping, and he Hears behind him a great voice; as of a trumpet saying;

I AM ALPHA AND OMEGA THE FIRST AND THE LAST and as vrs 8 say’s he is the beginning and the end.

Can I say to you that he is exactly who he says he is. THE BEGINNING WORD OF GOD

Genesis 1:3

And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

AND THE ENDING or (THE LAST WORD OF GOD)

Rev. 22:20-21

20 He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus

21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

Today I want to look at these words The Alpha and Omega

Alpha is the first letter of the Greek alphabet, and Omega is the last letter of the Greek alphabet.

The word Alphabet come from two Greek words too. alpha and beta first and second letters of the Greek alphabet. In Hebrew it is aleph and bet

But what has the alphabet have to do with us as Christians?

First the Alphabet is ;

1) inexhaustible

2) The alphabet is workable

3) The alphabet crosses all boundaries. Just like Jesus

# 1) The alphabet is inexhaustible

Our alphabet is made up of 26 letters,

5 vowels and 21 consonants

Yet with just 26 letters our deepest thoughts our greatest idea’s are written down.

with just 26 letters;

The fathers of this nation wrote the Declaration of Independence

John f Kennedy wrote “Ask not what your country can do for you but ask what you can do for your country.

Martin Luther King penned the words “I have a dream!”

Abraham Lincoln wrote his Gettysburg address

Every Great or profound idea has been written down with those same 26 letters including the bible!

Writers have been writing for thousands of years filling library full of facts and knowledge

Yet today you can still write down your most personal secrets and thoughts.

Yes the alphabet is inexhaustible. But all that being said;

JESUS is THE INEXHAUSTIBLE ALPHA AND OMEGA

Jesus is inexhaustible in his love; He proved his love when dieing on the cross for my sins.

John 13:34 Jesus said:

A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

Matthew 5:44

But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

Jesus not only said this but he modeled this while on the cross he said “father forgive them for they know not what they do!”

45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

Jesus is in exhaustible in his grace

Ephesians 1:7 (KJV 1900)

In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

Jesus inexhaustible in his abilities power and authority

Think about the;

All those he released from demonic forces, or the giving of site to the blind

He calmed the wind and waves of the sea with Just a word!

The Feeding of five thousand with 5 barley loaves and two fishes, and hes still feeding thousands today ( spiritual food)

He still heals the sick and cleanses the leopard , he proved his power over the grave and death with his own resurrection.

He is the inexhaustible alphabet

You cant wear him out ( he is more than enough)

You cant make him quit

Because He loves you with an everlasting love

He said he would never leave you nor forsake you but go with you to the very end!

When everyone else gives up on you Jesus is their reaching out to you even then!

Jesus never changes ( hes the same yesterday today and forever)

He is the inexhaustible alphabet!

#2) The alphabet is also workable

This is one of my favorite things about the alphabet

Because it was working for me even before I was born.

Before I knew about it;

Before I could read or write it was working for me!

We use the alphabet every day, in every part of our lives.

We use it to fill out applications for credit or employment

We write our loved one’s letters and cards Yes the alphabet works for us all the time never quiting.

Jesus also was working for me before I was even born

He was working for me before I knew him , before I had an understanding of who jesus was.

Jesus work’s in my private life

He works in my social life

He will work in your business life

Jesus will work in your family life

He can work in your financial life too

He can work in your emotions, your spiritual life or even your physical life

He is the great physician He will work in every area of your life that you will let him.

The alphabet prayer!

A grand father passing by his grand daughters room over heard her praying.

abcdefghijklmnop He asked her what are you doing?

The little girl said I am saying my prayers but I can’t think of exactly the right words so just saying all the letters . And god will put them all together for me because he knows what I am thinking.

Yes Jesus will work for you even when you cant find the words to speak.

#3 The Alphabet Crosses all Boundries.

The alphabet works for everyone

for all generations

The Now generation and the old school generation, even the ancient generations

works for all Nationalities and ethnic groups works for the Greeks as well as for us today.

The alphabet doesn’t care what color your skin is.

Or what language you speak. It will work for you!

It works for all religions it doesn’t care if you Greek or gentile, if your Arabian of Israeli

It works for the young and old , black or white and Hispanic

rich or poor weather you use a telegraph or text on a cell phone it will work for you!

Even our most advanced computers use a alphabet the first 1 and the last a zero and they call it the binary code.

It worked for John on the island of Patmos it is timeless!

And so is Jesus!

The old folks use to say!

He’s so high you can’t get over him , Hes so hes so low you cant get under him ,Hes so wide you can’t get around him!

Jesus is alphabet the alpha and Omega , the first and the last, the beginning and the end

He told moses to tell Israel that the I AM That I AM had sent him

He was saying I am the alpha

I am the Omega

I am the first

I am the last I am the beginning and I am the end , I am what ever you need me to be

You see he’s not only the first and the last But he is everything in between.

Acts 17:28

For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.

We are exhorted to be like christ . We are to be inexhaustible!

In his love,in his grace , in his ability, and in his power and authority.

We are to work in peoples lives, people may not like us or understand us but we are to try and help them in the love of christ!

We are to cross all boundaries line and show to the world the alpha and omega of the bible in us.

For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son.

When jesus was here on earth he said he was the light of the world but before he went back to the father He said you are the light of the world .

If the world is in darkness it can mean only one thing that the church is not doing what christ called them to do!
